First time using iMovies software, little 8GB M1 Mac mini is a power house for stitching all of these together then transcoding.

I enjoyed filming the storm plus a few stills, S5ii & 24-105 f4 are still covered in sea salt :cool:

Really loved it. Felt like being there in the storm. I didn't understand the covered in salt part until near the end of the movie :) I'm not sure if I would have taken those nice shots where the water covers those ships. And I clicked the movie on the first place because of the tank in the shot :cool:. The entrance of the army base at my work also houses a museum. So I pass those things all the time. Actually in front of my office is a garage for armoured vehicles which look like tanks. (these). And just the sound of those engines.... love it. Ofcourse for security reasons I'm not allowed to film/photograh at the base.

I found it strange to only find about 5 YT Ireland videos of this storm. I was dumbfounded to see a completely shitty shaky phone video with zero attempt at good skills, for example, a horizon possibly 30° off level etc with nattering getting 12k views? It was so bad I couldn't watch it as the content was equally bad.

I'm fully aware mine was possibly boring for some but at least there was relatively some attempt of craft in it to get what... 28 views? :rolleyes:

Another of Dublin airport was over 100k views or something and I could only watch 1 plane landing and it was 8 hours long?

I'm not bothered but maybe most people need nattering? I'm the polar opposite and detest it. I want to hear the storm and not the narcissistic YouTuber narrative so... 1000021121.jpg
 
I gave up years ago trying to understand the correlation between “likes” and quality of content. On Flickr there are some photographers with breathtaking images but who garner just a handful of “faves”, but others whose content is basically crap who get hundreds of “faves” as well as gushing comments. Makes no sense at all.

I agree, Paul. Some photographers deserve more likes. I think it is about how to share the photos. Flickr is a huge platform to share images. 25 million photos everyday:

By the way, not all the photos of Explore are excelent... but, "the images on Explore are picked by an algorithm based on activity on the photo".


So, it is not only about the quality of the photo. It is about sharing the photo in the groups with more members, like Flickr social or the huge groups about landscapes, nature, portraits, etc.
 
It's about that time of the year again. Say what you want about the Lumix S 50, but I think it's a brilliant little lens. Before we even begin to consider the price

Lets put it this way. My typical after work ride is 16-17 kms long. With 220-240 meters of elevation gain. On rocks, dirt & gravel. Average speed 10-11km/hr
A few weeks back one weekend ride was 23.5 km's, with 724 meters of elevation gain. All on rocks, dirt and gravel. Average speed 9.7 km/hr. The day before was about the same distance, 454 meters of elevation gain. Average speed 10.7 km/hr. I've never yet thought to myself as I get well into a ride, hell I wish I had taller gearing for more top speed :) But I have gotten off and pushed and carried the bike a bit. Hopefully now there's a bit less pushing/walking involved.
The purpose of that exercise is simplicity, with less weight. I'm using a 10 speed cassette, with 11-48t sprocket/ratio spread. I tried a 28t front chain ring, was a tiny bit too high geared, 26t 1x narrow/wide sprockets are hard to come by here in Australia, so I modded a 2x crankset which allows me to run 22-28t 4 bolt chain rings on the smaller PCD, and are cheap as cheaps, as well as readily available anywhere, last forever, and are nice and light. And I can easily adjust the chainline to suit different bikes with different hub widths. All win.
There is method behind the madness I can assure you.
Edit -Oh, and I'm 60 in a couple of weeks time.

You are able to use the 35mm really very well. I do not now why I do not get used to this focal lenght although it is looking great if someone else is using it. Maybe I have to force myself to use only that one 35mm lens for 2 months.

I do think that the same photo made with 28mm would not look as good. At least that is my impression. This here is the optimal compromise between "getting drawn into that image" (advantage of a 20/24/28mm) and "not squeeze too much into the image" (disadvantage of a 20/24/28mm).

I guess I have to keep my 35mm and 24mm and try to force myself to use them more. Paul, your images are not good for my financial planning...Z04 Menno

I never used to like the 35mm focal length either, but I grew to really like the Oly 17mm when I was using m43 gear. I think the square crop of m43 helps somehow. You’ll see in the shot above that I’ve cropped it squarer than the 3:2 of the sensor.

Now I would be very happy to wander around with just the Sigma 35mm on the camera. It’s a fantastic lens.
