Yeah, there is so much misery and tantrum throwing going on that it sucks the joy out of the forums and groups. I wonder if they get enjoyment out of being angry!Absolutely. I really don't get it. Personally, I'd have liked to have seen it with an EVF, but just because it doesn't I'm not going to throw all my toys out of the pram. And tell the whole world what a miserable, misguided company Panasonic is while I'm at it.
Same for me. I love reading articles and reviews and watching tubes about new camera gear about any brand. But I prefer the facts about what the gear can and can't do rather than the silly pontificating like "I don't know who this camera is for". People can work that out themselves.I'm not in the target market for the camera, but I still love reading about it, watching all the different reviews, and basically just educating/informing myself. It's a hobby, supposed to be enjoyable and good fun. A lot of what I'm reading and watching online is certainly not reflecting people's experience of that, not by a long shot.
Gordon Laing (camera labs) completely writes his gear reviews then makes videos of the exact script he has written verbatim which is why it is so professional. Gordon then shows all his test images always including Brighton pier and surroundings where he lives, it gives an idea of the boring basics like sharpness etc.But then, those kind of issues are one reason I've always preferred written reviews to video ones, and especially to podcasts. Writing (for me, at least) is a slower, more deliberative process, and from the results it seems like it inspires a lot more reviewers to be thoughtful and less off-the-cuff.
Exactly, very few people need limitless video, I did 2 minutes at the bird feeder and it was long enough. Those who say they do need it for concerts or whatever are going to have an S5ii rigged with mics and SSD etc anyway, basically pro work and the S9 is in no way meant for that.So silly, and the 15 minute limit is for a clip. After that you can start another clip. My clips are typically a minute or less. I had a hand held 10 minute clip one time and that seemed like forever.
But not if you are a hobbyist who already has two cams (S5iiX/S5) but might want a third cam if they do interviews/weddings/events sometimes.Exactly, very few people need limitless video
That is GAS, if you turned up for pro work with a S9.peoole wouldn't take you seriously as it looks like a toy camera, OK not quite the lego Pentax K-01 but certainly not pro anyway.Right now IF i would by a new cam, it would be the S5ii, although I see the fun (or is it GAS) of the S9.
But I'm no Pro.. I do Prosumer stuff yes, but I'm no Pro. I work in the ITThat is GAS, if you turned up for pro work with a S9.peoole wouldn't take you seriously as it looks like a toy camera, OK not quite the lego Pentax K-01 but certainly not pro anyway.
The S5ii can be had for so cheap in combos if you need specific lenses (when you deduct the individual lens price).
I wish it wasn't a hard limit. To be honest, I always felt those hard limits were sometimes in there for artificial reasons. Like, I guess, if you are shooting outdoors in 40 C summer heat, the camera might overheat. But thinking about the G9 or the S5, which both had limits imposed on them - I used them both for quite a long time indoors, one hour or more, basically recording until the limit and then starting another recording right after without any cooldown period, and I never ever saw any sort of warning or noticed any kind of unnatural heat buildup when touching the camera. But not if you are a hobbyist who already has two cams (S5iiX/S5) but might want a third cam if they do interviews/weddings/events sometimes.
I would love to have a third cam, but it would have also to be able to work as C-cam...
Note I only use the S5 during interviews/weddings/events, for the rest only the S5iiX, and I don't want a third cam to be used so sparingly... It would especially be for Trips , but also for interviews/weddings/events...
Right now IF i would by a new cam, it would be the S5ii, although I see the fun (or is it GAS) of the S9.
In the video of Hugh Brownstone, he mentioned that the average watching time for each video at TickTok is 3 seconds!Exactly, very few people need limitless video, I did 2 minutes at the bird feeder and it was long enough.
My guess is that Panasonic will fix this with a FW update for the USBC port. Than you can use a dongle. Also heard Jordan and others moaning about the lack of a headphone socket...
My guess is that this will come also sooner or later with a FW update. As long as people keep asking for it, they have to change that.I think I'd much prefer a temperature warning instead of 15/30 minutes and you are done.
No, not possible.I am kinda wondering if it will be Webcam capable
I mean any paid work, I'm not saying you're Spielberg or anythingBut I'm no Pro.. I do Prosumer stuff yes, but I'm no Pro. I work in the IT
Yes, the S9 has a larger sensor. It also has a larger body. Looking at the GM5/S9 comparison pic you posted earlier, it seems like the S9’s sensor has about the same size in proportion to the body as the GM5. Maybe a bit more, but not by a lot.
- The sensor of the GM5 is a lot smaller. You have more space for other things and less heat development
True. OTOH, the GM5 has a hybrid shutter, while the S9 doesn’t. I’d think the two balance each other out, at least to a degree.
- Non electronic IBIS for a fullframe sensors take a lot of space.
Both true; the battery in particular does take an extra chunk. OTOH, the battery is at the other end of the camera from the EVF.
- The GM5 has a tiny battery.
- The GM5 does not have an articulating screen

Funny coincidence, I'm reading comments about an Android phone I've ordered and the arguments are similar or exactly the same with anger about the lack of headphone jack and the "dealbreaker" term about this and that.
No SDcard slot = No buy
No wireless charging = No buy
No 2MP macro= No buy
No telephoto camera=No buy
No 8k video=No buy
View attachment 4500
Etc etc etc
Is it better that this camera exists on the market or not?
Yes, I think Panasonic should stop making cameras... They better concentrate on making vacuum cleanersBecause it's already doing damage to Panasonic's reputation.
Not. Because it's already doing damage to Panasonic's reputation. No headphone jack! 10 minute open gate limit! Not suitable for vloggers, sorry.
