News Lumix S9 - new camera rumor roundup

True, but you can get the seller to remove VAT, so the purchase price will be -20%.
Still with the custom of around 30% this does not make sense anymore

Dirk you picked me up wrong, I'm all for LUTs, see my response to Paul about this topic above.
Sorry, I mixed that then. Too many postings... Z04 975

SRS Microsystems and Bristol cameras used to do this but I think they and others stopped selling outside UK due to the Brexit customs bureaucracy. Maybe it'll all start reversing after 4th July Z04 Kaputtlachen

Surely no-one will splash out this sort on money for a limited-feature camera just because it’s got LUTs?
Try buying a Fujifilm X100VI at the moment... ;)

It's the major appeal of Fuji's cameras: immediately usable, attractive JPEGs.

LUTs give a far greater range of possibilities than the comparatively small number of parameters you can play with using Fuji's film simulations. I wonder whether Panasonic have included a LUT bracketing feature like Fuji's film simulation bracketing?

The criticism I have of the LUTs is the complication, not the idea, it needs simplified to make it easy, especially for the S9 with a dedicated LUT button.

Maybe i'm missing something, but in my opinion, one of the biggest improvements that comes with the S9 is the brand new real time LUT workflow, which address the issue where it is too complicated to find LUT, install and setup on the S5II. The new workflow is just so easy to use even for beginner users.

On the S9, using the Lumix Lab, it literally takes 30 seconds to try out a new LUT on your own photo, install it on your camera and then just click on the LUT button to enable it (ok maybe a few more clicks to access your new LUT). But you don't need to do any more setup, this really can't be any easier.

You can also create your own LUT easily by either basing it on someone's LUT.. or creating your own LUT from scratch, and it could take as little as 1 minute to create your LUT and have it installed on your camera already setup and ready to use. All just through the phone, again I've never used anything as powerful yet easy.

But on the other hand, if you want to do more fine tuning, like setup double LUT, play with transparency..etc , grain level ..etc you can too This is more like the S5II workflow, but you just have more adjustments. Now this will take a bit more time to adjust but because you can find/get LUTs on your camera quickly using Lumix Lab. This is still a lot faster than S5II in my opinion.

Thanks Richard, I am S5ii owner and I was going by Chris Nichols comments where he basically said he and everyone else was lost with the S9 LUTs.

Lumix need to bring this better LUT system to S5ii, the hybrid zoom also!

You've probably covered LUT workflow and menu in your S9 review which I haven"t seen.

I'm starting to get S9 burnout, forum bombardment and I've never seen so many YT reviews all at once at the same time.

....
In Germany we have different prices and different kits. I can buy the S9 alone for 1699.-€ or with the 20-60 for 1999.-€. There is no Kit offer with the 26/8.0 available. The 26/8.0 I have to buy for 239.-€. Obviously I will not do this.

..

Of course there are kit offers in Germany. The kit price for S9 plus 26/8 is 1798 €, S9 plus 50/1.8 is 1898 € and S9 plus 35 or 85 1.8 prime is 1998 €. But only till June 10th.

But nothing interesting for me. I already have the 50 and 85mm Lumix and 35 Sigma I-Series. And I'm not interested in the 26/8 MF pancake. I definitely will wait for better offers.

Oh, that surprises me, because I am in the email newsletter list for press releases of Panasonic and in their information for the press, only the kit combinations I mentioned are shown. Weird...

Same for me. I have too many lenses already. I need a very low body price and a Sigma 28/2.0 DG DN Z04 Flucht

Did he test that new app, Lumix lab? I've seen some reviews yesterday and they all seem really positive about the new app. I think a camera isn't the right tool for such major tools. But smartphones and tablets are. Some time ago, I've wrote something similar in a thread about computational photography. It's would be better to improve the connection between camera and smartphone, them to try to make everything in camera. And I think that is what Panasonic is doing right with the new LUT features.

I think there will be some new cashback that will include the new S9 very soon. There is almost always some cashback for Lumix cameras.

We have time. We all have already very good cameras and lenses. Time plays for us. It only gets better.

The most difficult decision is to choose between the different colours

I am torn between red and green. What about you?

I would love to have a Lumix S9 "LMF limited edition". We had something like that for our Contax Forum back in the old days. It was limited to 300 pieces and each one was numbered.

I've decided to wait a few months because of the price, haha. Simple reason: I am going to Japan for a month in August. The S9 costs like 500 EUR less in Japan. There's also an offer for getting the 26 F8 for free on top of that.

Or maybe I'll ask my Japanese friends if they can order one for me as soon as it releases and send it over.

Btw. exclusively for Japan (apparently?) you can also get the silver top with the colour options! So you can do silver/blue or silver/red etc. They have a service where they can reholster the camera. In fact, buy it red and decide after a year you want black? Panasonic will get it done!

Decisions, decisions.
