This is the answer when you have this with 'specials' with lights. For the most it will suffice to film in a framerate where (herz freq where you are)/framerate is a whole number, meaning:

Use 30p/60p/120p in de US, Peru and parts of japan
Use 25p/50p/100p in Europe, other parts of japan and most other countries.

I am somewhat torn. I'd prefer to stay in the L mount ecosystem, I don't want to run two ecosystems. So I can get the S9 and see if I can live with all the compromises. But 1699 is kinda steep. Or I can get something that won't require me fully buying into a new system,

I understand your point but I would put it into perspective.

I'm not happy with the specifications we heard so far neither (for my individual use cases). Assuming all information are correct and nothing yet unknown will be said on launch date, I would have set the price for the body more in the range 999€-1299€.

Having said that I think we have to relax here. This is neither the first L-Mount camera nor the last. There will be always models you like more and models you like less.

If you look for something very specific and the current models do not offer it, just wait. You do not need to buy now - no matter which model or brand. You already have gear to use.

I am sure there will be even more models for the LMount system this year. Do not get into buying pressure.

The LMount system is for my use cases next to MFT the best system out there. I sold my Nikon Z system for this. I almost never use my Fuji X system anymore. But I would never consider to leave LMount just because one specific camera model does not please me.

Just wait what the launch day will bring and we discus it from there.

I just do not understand it. Neither the feature / price constellation nor the product launch process, if the rumors are true. In the newest stream of today he said that the S9 will come now and the 2 pancakes will come in autumn. This would not make sense at all....

And here another weird thing: On Amazon Sirui offers a handgrip for the S9 already. Nothing special.

BUT in the last photo of the handgrip, a woman is shown and she holds the S9 as if the S9 would have a viewfinder. Either the marketing department had no clue what the S9 is or the S9 has a viewfinder. Choose whatever you prefer..

I have been wanting to have a 35mm prime for a while...
If some of the online shops here in Germany makes a nice bundle with the Sigma 35mm saving a few hundreds, I may be tempted.
If you need more than 15min recording, not sure, this was from the beginning not the camera for the job.

Judging by this picture, the S9 is even bigger than the S1R. And they really couldn't fit a mechanical shutter in there?

I guess Sirui just got some renders to work with and maybe someone in the marketing department forgot how centimeters work or something.

But the way both women hold the camera into the face, basically press their face on the body, it would surprise me if they can see anything .

That is the thing what wasn't done before. You hold the camera close and the view is directly placed in your brain, no EVF necessary
