Is it just me, or does the water level look high in this pic? (I think it's because that dock looks like it's sitting very low in the water...)

It's attractive, whatever the status. :)

Thanks! It’s been unseasonably warm here this Winter. What relatively little snow fell in the mountains has been melting earlier than usual. The river’s level typically rises with the snow melt.

For you, Paul:

I shot this down by Oregon City on my old decrepid iPhone 5, once upon a tour...

I love your photo. When you posted it, it wasn't a scene I was familiar with, but your image made such an impression on me that when this scene pops up very briefly as a cutaway in the 2024 television series The Count of Monte Cristo (airing now on US public television), I grabbed a screen shot of it. (Although the TV series uses a computer-generated version of the scene.) Cool! :)

Thats a lovely scene. The sky colour is very nice. I wish I'd arrived before the sun rose.

Houseboats on the west bank of the very full Willamette River, a few miles south of downtown Portland, Oregon. We've had a lot of rain recently, and snow in the mountains is melting earlier than usual.

Ornamental pear tree blossoms, with forsythia blossoms in the background (the view from my back deck).

Snapshots from yesterday's No Kings "honk & wave" rally in nearby Lake Oswego, Oregon. More than 3,000 participants lined both sides of North State Street; a big turn-out for a relatively small town. (I purposefully shot these pix when few cars were blocking the view of the protest signs.) Nearby cities of Portland and Beaverton had crowds >10 times larger. Beautiful weather; sunny 65F. S5iiX w Lumix S 20-60 lens. Cheers.

Another case where I think XPAN really works best - it shows the breadth of the protest while keeping you focused on the protestors, by having them fill the frame.
