Rumors New cameras on October 8th?

Both are roughly the same size and weight, no difference regarding lens attached. Only significant difference is the tiny EVF... For me they're essentially the same idea.

Go and stick a 150-600 on that Sony and peer through the tiny finder :p
The lack of an EVF is a huge difference in my view. On top of that, the S9 has no mechanical shutter. Together these reduce the relevance of the S9 for stills photography. It seems clear to me that the S9 is predominantly a video-orientated hybrid camera and targeted at the low-end of the market. The A7Cii / A7CR have both EVF and mechanical shutters and fare much better as stills photography tools. The A7CR has a 61Mp sensor and makes a fantastic compact landscape stills camera.

Yeah, but we’re two days away and basically there is nothing tangible out there.
I have to agree, that the chances are high, that there only will be a S5D, the 18-40 and firmware updates.

But still, if we look back at the GH7 there where first "confirmed" rumors with some specifications on Monday (3rd) and the announcement was an Wednesday (5th). That's not a huge difference.

On the other hand. Petapixel posted a comparison of high resolution camera models today. They probably wouldn't have done that, if there would come a new high resolution camera this week.

Yeah, and they didn't mention the S1R at all. It's as if it doesn't exist (well, I suppose it doesn't if buying a new copy is what you want to do).

The S1R was included in a similar combination a couple of while ago. But it's to old to include it in a current comparison.

And that filmed on a GH7, they stated that.

If they wouldn't have stated the camera, than It would have been the S1Hii

You can use the Tamron 28-200 with it as well...

...be careful, you may get assimilated by the borg!
Yeah, I know. I'm trying to put that thought out of my head !

I do not know whether some of you have seen this, but the official L-Mount website got renovated. Looks a lot better now.

Maybe the alliance decided to work a little harder and faster together? I am really curious what will happen on Tuesday... Z04 Whis Gummikau02a

That's a good point. If they had a new S1R Mk II in their hands, they'd have held off with the review.

I really don't need my GAS to kick off again so I'd be quite happy with new firmware for the S5II and S9, and the 18-40mm lens.

Very swanky. They clearly spent a lot of money on that. Wonder why they'd do that with so many old Lumix cameras being showcased (i.e. the S1 range)?

At the bottom is the year 2023. Maybe it was made already last December and I did not visit that site after that.

Another reason for not making a lot of marketing for this event could be the competition.

Fuji has an announcement on October 14th.

Sometimes companies change their announcement schedule to get the most attention. You do not want to have your press day next to another one of a competitor, if you have a smaller market share.

Second, you do not want to tell too much in advance your press day. Others might try then to put their announcement day at the same day or 1 day after, to steal the attention from the competitor's new products.

So, something thoroughly underwhelming: an updated entry level S5 (the rumoured S5D), the 18-40, and firmware updates to make the S5ii(x) compatible with Lumix Lab.
The practical me:
I have the cameras I need in the next 4 years, I want the 18-40 and improved Lumix Lab (in Android at least the app is terrible). So that kind of event would be perfect.
The fanboi me:
Give them a S1Hii with DR boost and other features so the brand will be more successful. Other surprises (like a bright short zoom) welcome.

Maybe... maybe not.
Some time ago they said that they had lied about which camera had been used the previous videos not to spoil the release.

In any case, one youtuber (not remember who) will make a stream after the launch called "the future of Lumix cameras" so it is either a supershit release and he will bash it and leave the brand, or a SH1ii will be anounced, as he is a videographer and in the Lumix "in the know" group.
I bet #2.

The million dollar question, how to get market share?

Market share, Dez. 2023:

This announcement of the 18-40mm, the S5D and the firmware update is a bit disappointing, to be honest. I don't want to be harsh on Lumix, because I have several cameras and lenses and I have invested quite a bit of money in the brand, but sometimes it feels like Lumix is late to the party... and that they have been told it was a costume party... and he's the only one dressed as a clown... Sorry to say that...

Market share, Dez. 2023:

Is this worldwide or Japan only?
Is this bodies only or also lenses?
Is this by unit or by price?
Is this MLU only or incl. DSLRs or incl. P&S?

We need more details

It's by sales volume, i.e. number of units.
...and their source is Statista which you can only see if you have a subscription.

The problem with YouTube are such YouTubers creating garbage content. It's full of these low-calibre producers desperately trying to get you to like, subscribe and click or even worse watch such clickbait content.

Why I'm not...
Why I'm giving up...
Why I'm switching from x to y...
Why you shouldn't...

No such garbage content is worthy of your time. Rasieren1
