Love the rendering of the 24-105
It's hard to beat, I can't be bothered with primes and I think the idea is out of date, been there done all that, I once owned 7x 28mm primes... Madness and I started hating photography... Too much completely unnecessary gear

At Fuji there was a much bigger gap. But with Lumix I love the zooms very much, and the primes as well. Today got the 50/1.8 as well (exchanged for Sigma 45). The 1.8 still is a big difference indoors. Love to take portraits with them or to constraint myself.

Yeah, I didn't mean the speed advantage, mostly referring to the same apertures.

24-105 f4 is great for portraiture and it has 3d pop and lovely bokeh.

I tried a Pentax 55mm f1.8 on the S5ii but prefer the 24-105.

Three pictures with the Lumix 14-28mm. I like a lot this lens... for video too:
Great photos Xavier!

I like this lens a lot too. It seems to have a slightly different colour rendering than my other Panasonic L-mount zooms, in a good way. Maybe it's just the way DxO processes the raws, I don't know really, but I really like the lens.

Yosemite Falls | 6-6-2024

S5 w/70-300 f8 s250

Great photos!

I visited Yosemite many years ago in winter and stayed at the Awwahnee Hotel. Absolutely magic place.

I was with my wife and at that stage, our only child who was about 3 years old at the time. She is now 33, married and has her own daughter who is almost 3 years old so it's a whole generation since I went there. But doesn't feel that long ago.

I was taking photos back then with a Nikon F90X SLR. I must see if I can find the photos and negs somewhere!

It is about a four hour drive for me, but I haven't been there in quite a while. It may be time to plan a trip.Z04 Dm Walk

30 minutes to the South gate for me!
Cool, I've been to California after cycling from Florida, cycled through Compton and South Central and back in 1998 apparently that was a bad idea but we didn't know anything about LA Z04 Auslachen

Stayed in a few dodgy areas, Long Beach and Oceanside and ended up drinking with US army there. Roach motels literally!

Hired body surf boards at Mission beach, ignored the constant "body boarders get out of the water" from the lifeguard tannoys and didn't know great white sharks patrol that area.

Today my wife and I went to Enkhuizen, also an old dutch city with a nice port.
Normally I would make a video, but I have tu much to edit anyway... So this time only a few photos.
All shot with the S5iiX and the 28-200mm

Very nice photos. That 28-200mm lens is starting to tempt me...

I am curious to see the image quality at 625mm with the hybrid zoom feature of the Lumix S9.

Thank you.

Yes I also want the hybrid zoom, but one my S5iiX Z04 Sabber

I was able to go out this afternoon to do a bit of photography in my local area.

These shots were taken at Cape Solander which is the southern head of Botany Bay and in the Kamay National Park. It is whale watching season and a holiday weekend so there were a lot of people out and about.

Edit: the exif is not showing so I've added camera and lens info before each photo.

First pictures shared on LMF!

I was chuffed that my Lumix 70-300 F4.5 - F5.6 arrived yesterday so I could test it out this weekend. Thanks Dirk for sending it so quickly!

In fact it made me get up at 5.30am to get a few shots of the sunrise at our local park.

I really like the lens, nice and sharp, not too heavy and the rendering is superb. It pairs well with my S1R. I used to use my G9 paired with the Panaleica 50-200 F2.8 - F4 lens for these sorts of shots. I can see large improvements: easier to crop, more dynamic range (particularly for these sort of shots), the RAW files are sucj a joy to edit, and I love the colour reproduction of the S1R (never liked the greens and magenta tones of the G9, which I always found difficult to edit).

All pictures below are taken with a S1R + 70-300 (expect one).

Ok I took this one with the Sigma 16-28 F2.8 @16mm

This one below was cropped heavily but very sharp despite being shot at F13 and at ISO400. Not my usual style but nice to see that the half-macro ability of this lens is no gimmick!

Great photos Nick! That's keen, getting up at 5:30am! Daumenhoch

Happy days ahead with your new camera. And that 70-300mm is such a versatile lens. Love mine.
