Hahaha thank you, Bill! This is a great shot.. could be the opening scene from a Cohen Brothers movie.. and possibly a dramatic Metaphor for life itself... (Whoa..! bit deep. )

One think I love about the plains are the wide-open skies.
I thank you very much for your kind words. But there are other spots on the Wichita Drive that I think might fit better...I am a lineman for the county,
And I drive the main road,
Searching in the sun for another overload,
I hear you singing in the wire.
I can hear you thru the whine
And the Wichita Lineman
Is still on the line.
Such a great song, and your shot evokes it perfectly!

I agree on the 40mm judging by that first shot - sharp and contrasty with just enough shallow depth of field to throw the background slightly out of focus.
Yeah, I think that if they're going to make something, 40mm would be the focal length to do it. 43mm is just too close to the already existing Sigma 45mm, and you'd want to maximise sales potential. If you like the song you should track down a copy of REM's version (I think it's a live performance). It's definitely the best version of the song.

Try pointing the flash at the subject! So i bought a flash and am experimenting

I think i am halfway there. ;-) Well, is the glas half full or half empty?Try pointing the flash at the subject!
I would love to see shots with this vs regular ceiling bounce. On the subject of flash, I recently bought one of these, and it's transformed flash results for informal people shots:

Oh, I'll take issue with that... I'd take James Taylor's cover (2007) or Johnny Cash's (2002) over REM's cover any day. Ray Charles did a pretty excellent cover, as well.If you like the song you should track down a copy of REM's version (I think it's a live performance). It's definitely the best version of the song.
Of course it is, any covers are never touching Glen Campbell.Of course, the original is as good as it gets.
I set out on my early evening walk after work today with Apple Music on shuffle and the second song played was Wichita Lineman.Of course it is, any covers are never touching Glen Campbell.
Unless you're a guitarist or musician you probably don't know Glen was a God, a master of his instrument. But the average Joe will only know him for Wichita and Rhinestone Cowboy.
Well at least it is Wichita, I've had "Too Shy" by 80's band KagaGooGoo in my head since Christmas after YouTube algorithm fed a video of the analysis of the bassline which is highly technical and distinctive.Anyway, I can't get the tune out of my head now.

Yes, I was reading the wiki article about Wichita Lineman which is quite comprehensive. The song was a follow up to Glen Campbell's previous hit "By the time I get to Phoenix", also written by Jimmy Webb. He's a great song writer.BTW Jimmy Webb wrote Wichita along with dozens of other famous songs, he also wrote another famous Glen Campbell song "Galveston".
Anyway, I can't get the tune out of my head now.
Just took a look/listen. That's a new one for me - I don't recall ever hearing of them! From the same period, and on the subject of songs about places, my first LP was Amazing Blondel's Fantasia Lindum. I still want to go see Lincoln Cathedral...
