Hahaha thank you, Bill! This is a great shot.. could be the opening scene from a Cohen Brothers movie.. and possibly a dramatic Metaphor for life itself... (Whoa..! bit deep. )

One think I love about the plains are the wide-open skies.
I thank you very much for your kind words. But there are other spots on the Wichita Drive that I think might fit better...I am a lineman for the county,
And I drive the main road,
Searching in the sun for another overload,
I hear you singing in the wire.
I can hear you thru the whine
And the Wichita Lineman
Is still on the line.
Such a great song, and your shot evokes it perfectly!

I agree on the 40mm judging by that first shot - sharp and contrasty with just enough shallow depth of field to throw the background slightly out of focus.
Yeah, I think that if they're going to make something, 40mm would be the focal length to do it. 43mm is just too close to the already existing Sigma 45mm, and you'd want to maximise sales potential. If you like the song you should track down a copy of REM's version (I think it's a live performance). It's definitely the best version of the song.

Try pointing the flash at the subject! So i bought a flash and am experimenting

I think i am halfway there. ;-) Well, is the glas half full or half empty?Try pointing the flash at the subject!
I would love to see shots with this vs regular ceiling bounce. On the subject of flash, I recently bought one of these, and it's transformed flash results for informal people shots:

Oh, I'll take issue with that... I'd take James Taylor's cover (2007) or Johnny Cash's (2002) over REM's cover any day. Ray Charles did a pretty excellent cover, as well.If you like the song you should track down a copy of REM's version (I think it's a live performance). It's definitely the best version of the song.
