Yes, that's what I thought. The current Panasonic lenses are not exactly small. Not only the 50mm S pro, also the f1.8 primes are not what I would call compact.
However, there are a couple of Sigma lenses, I would like to use with such a camera.

There have been rumours of an interchangeable lens version of the Leica Q floating around on the various Leica forums for a while now. Leica have released the SL3, but the Panasonic S1Rii is nowhere to be seen. Maybe Panasonic are getting the first chance at an L-Mount rangefinder style camera?
Another rumour is that Sigma will introduce an updated version of the 24-70/2.8 to compete with the Sony 24-70/2.8 GMii:

I don't think it will take that long. May starts on Wednesday and I think the announcement will be in the first half of May.
Not me, I'm new to mirrorless (a few months) and an S5ii and still learning how to use the new toy. I know next to nothing about rangefinders, will this Lumix one have AF? See what I mean, all I remember is matching up images or something to know focus is correct.The question is now, how do we survive the next 4 weeks waiting for an announcement whether it will become reality or not.

That's a question of processor technology, you'll see this in the near future but this rangefinder won't be for video enthusiasts regardless as the other S5 cameras are, definitely a camera for photographers who proudly broadcast "I don't do video"

There isn't much detail in this video, and I've seen nothing new on the L Rumors website. Maybe wishful thinking?
Although one thing I picked up from the most recent PetaPixel podcast... someone asked about the S1R and they PP guys suggested waiting a few months before making a decision. Which sounds like they know the S1R replacement is coming out.

Yeah.
That's why I don't think the kit lens would be an ultrazoom; all the ones I've seen are bulky and heavy, which kinda misses the point of a rangefinder body.
What they need is an L-mount equivalent of the Lumix 12-32; small, light, pretty good optical quality, and compromises on controls and brightness to get that size/weight.

'rangefinder' in this context means body style, not focusing method - instead of a SLR-style body with a centered cosmetic 'prism hump' to hold the EVF, a relatively flat rectangular body with the EVF at the upper-left corner.
I like rangefinder-style bodies because my nose isn't smudging up the rear screen and messing with the touchscreen.
Also they tend to be smaller/lighter, and I have a pretty strong preference for small/light; see the way my most-used body is the Sigma fp and not the S5.Quentinquirelino

A successor to the S1R is also expected, but not probably not the next announcement from Panasonic. There are a total of three registered new cameras, that will be announced soon. At least two probably will be Lumix S bodys, one could be a GH7, but it also could be three S cameras.

The Lumix S 20-60mm not small enough for you? It's a brilliant little lens, not at all big & heavy for the focal range.
I hope is a rangefinder FF Lumix version of the Leica Q3 or the Sony A7Cii, but could be a cinema camera like the Sony FX6...

I presume more like the Q3 or A7Cii. If it is more like the FX6 than i might be interested, but I don't think so. It would be a more specialist camera, and that is not the market they go for, they wanted also to attract young and first time buyers.

I'd love to see a GX8 rangefinder style camera with a 36x24 sensor. The only thing is, it didn't really take off in m4/3 mount, perhaps Panasonic might be a bit wary of getting burnt twice? I love my GX8, bought it at release, and was a little bit nonplussed as to why it got the near universal scorn it received. Maybe a 35mm format version would be better received?

My bet is the full frame rage finder style Body. Of course it could also be a more specialised body for videographers. But everything hints more towards entry level FF camera.
