Which lenses are you missing?

View attachment 8369
It seems this lene is coming, check the roadmap
The missing lens is between the f4 zooms in, so according to this picture it would be a 24-60/F4
If so It will probably be very small (and probably collapsable) new standard zoomlens voor the s9 ? So according to this picture I think I don't have any interest.

I do not understand the positioning of the 18-40, because it slower but still above the 20-60 and 14-28. I would have drawn it between the 20-60 and the 28-200.

I don't think you can make much conclusion about the position in this picture.

My guess would be a S pro 24-60 f2.0. Because I think with the upcoming camera release, Panasonic will go more in the higher end direction. I don't think there is anything missing for mid-range shooters at the moment at least no zooms, and it's about time to extend the S pro lineup.

I Agree: I expect a highter quality kitlens. Not sure It will have the PRO badge (also the 24-105 F4 doesn't), but will have higher quality than the 20-60

That would be interesting, and probably will make me rethink if I want to have primes. Sigma has a 28-45/1.8 which is HUGE, 24-60/2.0 Pro will probably be beyond that in size & weight. But also a bit more versatile I guess..

If Panasonic could maintain 24mm at the wide end for an ~f/2, which Sigma, Sony and Canon have all failed to do, then it would be a win for the system, even if it means sacrificing a little on the long end. People care much more about that 4mm than they do about the 10.

APSC-mode, that is so 2024.... We use HYBRID-ZOOM now Z04 Carrot
Hahaha :D

I just tried the hybrid zoom with the 20-60mm Lens, and you reach up to 187mm in FHD. In 4k you reach 93mm and in MP4 litro (3.8k) you can reach 92mm.

For photo you reach 187mm too, but I guess that the files are very small. Z04 975

They're big enough for posting here, I've got to try this with the 70-300. If it get's images at 900+ mm then it's a winner! I seen an A380 at 41,000ft nearby the other day so that would be a good test with the new plane AF detection also.

It's most definitely useful more than so many features. If you have this zoom level you will see many compositions previously unrealised, it's like real-time pixel peeping where you find a mini photo within your photo.

I've only played with the 1.5x hybrid zoom on 24-105 and it's amazing what they have done, even the various focal length display variations available have had brains poured into the development.

Will I still really want the Sigma 60-600 someday?

I still have great photos from a Pentax Optio 4MP compact from years ago so small file sizes are still extremely useful and we now have upscaling software too. I'll be trying all this soon enough but what a firmware update! Z04 Discosmilie

I agree. There is so much complicated 'tech' in cameras these days but this particular feature is a great idea and the implementation of it makes it a breeze to use.

I would love for Lumix to release an S Pro version of their 24-105 f/4, which is critically sharp with great micro contrast for landscape shooting. The current version is a decent lens, but not great.

I realized recently that Panasonic doesn't have a powerzoom. If they want to be used more in churches or events for livestream they would need something lime that. Perhaps this wil be a powerzoom?

I think that over a dozen lenses would make sense to strengthen the portfolio. Unfortunately Lumix has not the sales to release 4-6 lenses every year...
So we have to wait and hope, that the lens will be something we all need... ;-)

I could see the appeal of this, but personally I'd rather see a 24-70 F4 S-Pro, to compliment the 70-200 F4. While I do like the 24-105 range as a single lens solution, if I am out seeking my best landscape shots, I need a lens that goes to 200mm AND accepts a TC. Which means I'm always taking the 70-200, so why have the weight of the 24-105 when a 24-70 will do?

I suppose if they had a 24-105 F4 S-Pro and a 100-300 F4 S-Pro, I could see that working, if the IQ was there.

The big advantage of the L-Mounz system is that this is an open standard for all alliance partners. Therefore Panasonic is not the only one, who can develop native L-Mount lenses.

In the past, Sigma introduced the majority of all L-Mount lenses. Second is Panasonic, third is Leica.
