Now, a lens that came in a close second was the Sigma 45mm 2.8 but...I simply don't put it on the camera bodies a lot. Can't even tell you why, I just don't. Now the lens that I have yet to take off the mount since I purchased it, and in my opinion...is one of the best lenses available for L-Mount, is the Samyang 35-150mm. I love this thing lol. It has never let me down, whether its photo or video, it just gets it done, complete tank. Manual focus, auto-focus, it does not matter...it locks on and executes. Did a firmware update on it recently and I noticed, once you press record for video, the stabilization on the lens gets even better. Not sure what that is about but, I use this thing in AUTO-focus for video a lot...and I have no complaints. Anyway, check out the vid below, there are BOTH photo AND video in the clip. Hit me with any questions of comments !

Looks great! Thanks for posting. The Samyang renders really nicely but it's quite heavy! How have you found using this weight handheld?

I have the Sigma 45mm and love it, but my most used lens is the LUMIX 24-150mm which is heavy enough for me.

I like it!! What picture profile did you use? Are you using LUTs?

Thanks for the review. There are some fairly negative reviews (BH Photo) which suggest that quality control is an issue and customer service is poor. YMMV

I've no experience with Samyang's more recent lenses, but I had a m43 fisheye that they made about 10 years ago. It was decent enough, but actually not great build quality.

From what I have read, you do need to test it well. Of course, that’s true of any lens, but Samyang historically has a reputation for spotty QA. Not sure if it’s still well deserved.

BTW, this lens is on sale for $999 right now at the major (US) outlets. Which is pretty amazing.

Samyang builds lenses, that is what's true and what people read about regarding what they admittedly don't even own but feel the need to comment on as if they do anyway, are two distinctly separate things. Samyang historically has been building lenses for a very long time, 1972. If they truly had a historic record for spotty QA, then explain why they are still in business ? "I heard" is not an opinion, same thing as "I read" they are someone else's opinions, not your own. Posting hearsay. I've owned 2 Samyang made lenses, still have one. Manual 14 2.8 and the 14 2.8 AF currently, different optics and of course build. I had no QA issues with ether, that's 100% real and not what I read. How old is a manufacturing facility? No one ever ask that question much do they? If I was having brain surgery would I want 25 year old tech or 2025 up to date, Gold Standard tech ? Which tech produces better? Having a state of the art facility that's up to date is the new "bestest", not what you read about because what I see is cheap Chinese lenses flooding the market of an extremely way overpriced main market, reminds me of 1995 when Japan dumped their consumer market goods on the world. Quality went out the window then too, for cheap cheap cheap. But the Chinese are the new Japanese, outdoing them with their own game like Japan did to Germany. History repeats, that's what I know

For the record, I did have a Rokinon 12mm F2.0 on my Fuji X, which I used for astro. My copy was decent, but there was a lot of discussion about that lens at the time and more than a few people had to send their initial copy back. Not just arbitrary reviews on a website somewhere but well known forum users. Likewise, there are people currently posting who have had problems with the Samyang 35-150. Again, nothing wrong with passing that on. People should be aware, do their reading, and then go in with their eyes open. And test.

Of course, it’s impossible to know if Samyang/Rokinon have a higher frequency of problematic lenses than any other manufacturer. Panasonic’s S-Pro 70-200 F2.8 is somewhat legendary for being inconsistent. Etc. I don’t need to have tested half a dozen copies to repeat that in public. So I’m really not sure why you felt compelled to rant, but I suppose it’s in your user name.

So, are you still happy with the 35-150? Any more insights?
