Airplanes are great for XPan shots, with those long wings... ^_-
Wow, very scenic location! My friend Sam & I drove East from Portland with our S5iiX cameras to the Columbia River Gorge today, along the Oregon (south) bank, and managed to get a few nice photos & video clips. It was warm, hazy & windy. I haven't had time to sort through all the files yet, but attached is a low-res version of one of my Hi-Res RAW images, cropped to 65:24. The building is the Vista House on Crown Point, as seen from the Portland Women's Forum Viewpoint. I'll probably massage this image further. More to come.

Hi-Res mode and the Lumix S 20-60mm lens are pretty amazing. For example, also attached is an extreme crop of the same Hi-Res photo showing a LEGIBLE sign visible through one of the windows, which says, "Lower ... Exhibit ... Restrooms".![]()
Here's a link to a higher-resolution version (I did additional image editing on this version):Another S5iiX Hi-Res RAW shot taken yesterday in the Columbia River Gorge, cropped to 65:24. There was a sailboarding event on the Columbia River off the beach of Hood River, Oregon. Shot with the Lumix S 20-60mm lens at 60mm, f7.1, 1/400th sec., ISO 100.
I know the Vista House. If you ride a Peloton bike for exercise you may know besides the crazy exercise instructors with loud music, there are also scenic bike rides from around the world. And, sure enough, there is an Oregon Columbia River Gorge Ride. After you huff and puff and keep up until the end of the ride, you end up at the Vista House. Here's a link to a higher-resolution version:
Vista House on Crown Point
Here's my friend Sam standing in the same spot where I snapped my photo (above) of Vista House a few minutes earlier. Not a 65:24 crop, but a bit of behind the scenes.
Why did you use 1/160 and f11 ? I think f4, and higher shutter or lower iso would have been fine ? just curious
For DOF of the surrounding flora, windy so was blowing everything. Wasn't a huge dynamic scene regardless and ISO 1250 is nothing to S5ii... Use itWhy did you use 1/160 and f11 ? I think f4, and higher shutter or lower iso would have been fine ? just curious
Never saw these !! Love em !!!I thought I'd start an open "SHOW" style thread with a topic. These are popular on many photo forums and can be helpful to inspire ideas for us to go out and shoot.
To start, how about something linked to crop ratio (yes, you heard correctly!). 65:24 is the XPan crop ratio and I think it makes a really excellent, if challenging, crop format. What's really great about the Panasonic S cameras is that there is an in-camera crop option for this making it easy to visualise when composing. So, here are a few to kick us off.

I know that @xaviergut does a lot in this format, so maybe he can throw some in too?
So good !Another electrical storm shot. And: what happens when you leave OIS/IBIS on for an extended exposure while on a tripod. This was at least a minute of exposure time (via Live View Composite) using a 2.5 SS.

A great photo Alan.Knaresborough Viaduct, Sigma fp L and 35mm f/2.0
I went for a walk while the car was in for a service. Shame there wasn't a train to keep Pete happy...![]()
