These are my reasons:
- Almost same resolution as the S1R
- Almost as good at high ISO and shadow lifting as the S5
- Smaller and lighter than the S1R
- Latest PDAF & fancy AI AF
- HHHR, Live Comp etc all in one camera
- Latest firmware etc with updates
- Access to Lumix Lab
- Better battery life than S1R
And maybe a few more...

For those who are on the fence, please keep in mind that the S1rii is actually cheaper than it seems, at least for customers ordering from U.S. retailers. If you order from B&H or Adorama (or some other retailers) you can get a free 320GB SanDisk Pro-Cinema CFexpress Type B memory card. That card costs about $200 at full retail price, or about $180 on sale. So the actual cost of S1rii is just a tad over $3000. 
I am torn. If the AF tracking would be better for kids sport than the S5ii, then the higher resolution could be an advantage for me. I could gain reach with cropping in post = telezooms can be smaller. Otherwise I would prefer a camera with only 24MP.
The other "cons" for me is size and weight. It would be no improvement vs. my S5ii and I originally wanted to buy a new body only if it is smaller and lighet than than my S5ii.
But this cropping capability is seductive. If there would be a pixel binning feature, this would be a lot easier to decide.

Yes. They'll be off to MPB tomorrow! I'll have only the S5 until the S1Rii arrives. I'm sure I'll cope. The S5 delivers great results!
If you only want to use the converted camera for Astro think about the full spectrum conversion! The full spectrum is a good option for infrared pictures (color and mono), because you can use it for all variants, depending on filter
But for Astro you always need a filter, even on uwa lenses where filter sometimes is not possible!
That the reason why my S5 is only astro modified, with extend red range to cover the ha light. With this camera I don‘t need any „base“ filter
I still have 3 bodies too: the S1R, the S5II and the astro converted S5…You had 3 LMount bodies at the same time? You are worse than me
That is my problem: I have fast AF with the S5II and high res for studio and architecture (where AF is not so important) with the S1R. The S1RII looks better in every topic than the old S1R, but I bought the S1R for 2400 (that was also my most expensive camera in 40 years) and it is still doing it’s job very well. And even by selling both bodies (no spare afterwards) the difference will be still around 2000€ !
So I will wait for more „need“ or better price…
But in general I think the camera is a bold move by Panasonic and I hope the market will raise now to strengthen the l-mount!

Heh. Well, yeah.
I admit, even with all the other goodies, I put low-light at higher priority than higher resolution, so if I upgraded my S5 it'd be to the S5ii. Most likely. ^^;;

I’m working all day, even a late dinner tonight, so I’ve not had much chance to go through the YouTube reviews. I did see Chris and Jordan, that’s all. And I see the comments here about Gerald Undone and his views on rolling shutter. I’ll watch that next when I get a chance. My first thought, rolling shutter has never been much of a problem in the past with the S1H and the S5IIx, and in any case I have the GH7.
