Lumix Lab arrives in Play Store

I never tried that. What are the steps to do this with the older app?

We are talking about the app called "Panasonic Lumix Sync", right?

Ok, I tried this now with my S5ii and the older Lumix Sync App..... and it works for me for Bluetooth.

I did not try yet for Wifi.

Pairing worked within 20 seconds.

Some screenshots (I will later move all postings regarding the older app into its own thread to avoid confusion with the new Lumix Lab app)

Above you can see that there is no connection yet. Only my Lunix G9 is registered with this app.

I followed the instruction within the app for registration of a new camera with the app and the registration process started immediately.

Registration successful.

Now the import/transfer of images from the S5ii to the smartphone.

As you can see there are the images. Please are aware, that you can specify within the Lumix Sync app, whether RAW and Jepg and which size shall be used for the transfer.

Dirk... The app won't finalise registration, both devices are paired! Z04 Head Wall

Do you have the newest FW on yout S5ii?

Do you have the newest app version on your smartphone?

After you activated in the S5ii Bluetooth (on), did you go on your smartphone in the general Bluetooth settings and then searched for the S5ii there and coupled it with the smartphone?

Depending on your smartphone, it might be necessary to deactivate all other items which had earlier a bluetooth connection with your smartphone. Sometimes other gear block the bluetooth connection for new gear.

I know how to use Lumix Synch BYW, I'm not a knob

Now I am confused. I thought it does not work with your camera? Do I misunderstand here something?

No BT registered with app

Do you see your S5ii in the bluetooth settings of your smartphone (not of the app) as shown above?

After seeing the performance over importing gallery photos into Lumix Lab, I really don't think the app is the issue here.
My S5 mk1 happily connects to my cheap Chinese Oppo phone with Bluetooth. In Lumix Sync.

Maybe I'm easily entertained, but I'm having a lot of fun with Lumix Lab! I downloaded Emily from MicroFourNerds's LUTs because I like her street photo style! imo I think this coukld be the real value of the s9 - the app integration + 5ghz wifi will make processing and posting from the field way more convenient and fun

Thanks Pete but 2 hours of that I doubt has a solution to my camera registration not working via BT and beyond the scope discussed there.
Maybe not and I use iPhone so I no know nothing about Android but... there is a set of video time-stamps in the comments you can use and I found it easily. Sean runs through the Android registration process from 24:56 to about 29:20, a little under 5 minutes. If you follow that and it doesn't work, then there must be some kind of device or firmware problem.

Here's a much shortened 20 minute vid, explaining not only the connection process, but the various functions of the app as well. Worked perfectly on my S5 mk1, and cheap Chinese Oppo phone
Edit -it was literally the first hit that came up when I typed "connect S5 to Lumix Sync" in my search engine, a whole 10 seconds effort :)

Before and after playing with one of Emily's LUTs, forgot which one

Who here has successfully connected and used an S5ii with BT with the older app?
For me BT has not worked after the big 3.0 software update. Something broke in that update, at least for me. Lumix Sync BT had previously been very reliable. Note I'm running three Lumix cameras; BT worked before the big software update for, but not after.

If you think I'm being harsh on Lumix, why doesn't all this work as gloriously as the hyoe suggested... You got to admit I have a point.
Yes, Lumix Sync is not working for you. But I have not seen any glorious hype about Lumix Sync so I don't think you have a point.

All this crap on the Japan visit thread about them working 9-12 at night LoL what a joke if they can't even do simple software integration.
I believe I made that point, but it was about the work culture in Tokyo. I don't have any idea about the work culture in Osaka which is all the way on the other side of the country. In any case working hard and being excellent in firmware/software are two very different things.

After a firmware update, your camera may have lost or changed its bluetooth identity, requiring you to go through the registration process once more, as if you have a new camera. I've had to do this with my S5 but also with other bluetooth devices after a firmware upgrade.

It won't register bluetooth with the registration process. I would need to reset the camera and start from scratch, and would lose all my custom settings. I may try saving the settings on one of the cameras to a card, see if I can get bluetooth, and reload the settings. If that works I'll try the other cameras.

I just applied a LUT with the Lumix Lab app to this picture (I had downloaded in my smartphone time ago with the Lumix Sync app):

20240531_181823.jpg
  • Panasonic - DC-S5
  • 24.0 mm
  • ƒ/4.5
  • 1/161 sec
  • Pattern
  • -0.7
  • ISO 100

The LUT is the Black Frost-N (from Emily-Micro four nerds) , and the result is:

20240531_181744.jpg
  • Panasonic - DC-S5
  • 24.0 mm
  • ƒ/4.5
  • 1/161 sec
  • Pattern
  • -0.7
  • ISO 100

It was fun...

Figured out the solution with my issue with Lumix Sync after the big 3.0 firmware update. I deleted the camera registration in both Lumix Sync and in the camera, and started over. All three cameras synced up fine with both bluetooth and wi-fi. Phew! Panasonic is forgiven (just a little, I wish this cure was documented in the Operating Instructions). Now when Lumix Lab for iPhone is released I can go play.

I know I'm going to sound like a one eyed, biased fan boi here, but it's not just a Panasonic only issue. I've found Bluetooth itself is not the most reliable thing out there connectivity wise. The aftermarket Android Auto head unit in my vehicle requires a delete & re-pairing every now and then. As does the power meter app & dongle in the house switchboard/fuse box. And surprisingly, one of the absolute worst things for unreliability, is my Bluetooth Microsoft brand Designer Mouse & Keyboard on my Windows 10 computer. So much so that I've tossed it in favour of Logitech 2.4 Ghz wireless USB dongle setup. Yeah, that's pretty bad, when a manufacturers own products don't even work properly on their own operating system.
I have found that the 4 Panasonic camera bodies I do own, are a bit particular in the exact sequence that you go about setting them up for wireless communication. The 20 minute video I posted earlier by Sean Robinson is the best I've found so far, for a seamless experience when pairing etc

I just did this too with my S5M2. Once deleted, I just used the step-by-step process in the app to pair and re-register and it all worked fine.

Got the GPS tagging working, transferring images to my iPhone etc. Really looking forward to LUMIX Lab when they release it for iPhone.

One curious thing I saw... I checked the firmware update option in the app. It presented firmware v2.7 for the S5 original, for my S5M2.
