That's sad he only got to 50. :(

You were obviously great mates and so good that you supported him while he was in care. Memories are very precious.

Bike night was on, same weekend. So I had to stop for a look on the way home from the truck show :)

Happy Valley, Mourne Mountains.

I wasn't too happy getting drenched and losing my new Manfrotto backpack rain cover first time using it though.

I've never seen the mountain so wet and swampy. _1000487.jpg

Animal detect? I find it works really really well. Just got to learn to trust it a bit more :) My daughters dog, Napoleon. He's a bit of a character :)

I'm looking forward to the firmware update for the improvement in AF detect, it was very iffy with a flock of sheep a few days ago and didn't like the black ones in particular, so it'll be interesting to see. Maybe the CPL I had on was hindering it I don't know but that's a possible issue I'll keep in mind.

Napoleon :)

No, animal detect was disabled because as you already said I don‘t trust it, too. But I will try to use it more often as well

I'm not sure a firmware update would make any difference st all on a flock of sheep. Like how would the camera know which one you want in focus? When there's a whole flock to choose from?

The current one selects multiple detected subjects and you use the joystick to shift to the one you want, same as people or cars/motorcycles in the new one coming soon. It already works like this eith cycling races on a tv.

You can also use the zones to minimise the detection area or the full view. Like anything it needs practice to get to know it, I'm pretty sure the CPL kind of blocks it but it's all a learning curve. I'll dial it out next time when the CPL is attached ot take it off. I also think I forgot to switch to AF-C but I'm new to this system and mirrorless.

From the eclipse lead-in, taken from a friend's yard - he lives about 2.5 miles south of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, which also happens to put him on one of the flight paths for the Indianapolis airport. Was in a bit of a hurry to catch this one and didn't quite nail the focus.

Main eclipse pics were taken with an E-M1 Mk II and thus not admissible here ^^;; but I did get these with the fp/Minolta:

This one was fuzzier on the sun, but I like it for catching Venus in the frame.

And a couple more from the trip, testing out a Soligor C/D 35-140/3.8-5.3 (which sadly doesn't look like it'll make the grade):

I love animal detect, allows you to focus on composition. The 2nd one is a crop of the first with only crop, auto exposure and blur applied to the background for a portrait type. The blur AI in Lightroom mobile can be brilliant where you can't get separation.

BTW look at the size of the cormorant's feet...

I couldn't do this on the Pentax DSLR... This is brilliant Daumenhoch_1000658 (2).jpg
