What has to happen that you get out of GAS?

Physics has pretty much made it happen. Sensor development has about stalled, we're pretty much at the point of global shutter taking over, lenses seem to be about all that are moving forwards. And that's really only in terms of size & weight. And not at a huge rate of knots either. So it has become a bit pointless really, if your aim is large jumps in image quality/size.
 
GAS will rarely if ever improve your photography. Somewhat introspectively I think you're not thinking about what you could do with what you already own and it becomes an equipment endeavour i.e. GAS
Yes, it's true. It's easy to see a great photo and equate it solely to the gear that was used to capture it and then want to acquire it. It surely is a trap.
