What has to happen that you get out of GAS?

Physics has pretty much made it happen. Sensor development has about stalled, we're pretty much at the point of global shutter taking over, lenses seem to be about all that are moving forwards. And that's really only in terms of size & weight. And not at a huge rate of knots either. So it has become a bit pointless really, if your aim is large jumps in image quality/size.

GAS will rarely if ever improve your photography. Somewhat introspectively I think you're not thinking about what you could do with what you already own and it becomes an equipment endeavour i.e. GAS
Yes, it's true. It's easy to see a great photo and equate it solely to the gear that was used to capture it and then want to acquire it. It surely is a trap.

You got to be there, maybe with the Sigma 14mm f1.4 I could have captured more definition in the aurora at 1/4 shutter speed over f2.8:but that is a rare event. That said I'm not sure it mattered much. Otherwise I'd like it in general for widefield astro landscape.

In general I can't afford GAS, but it's probably a good thing. I'm trying to get down to owning nearly zero possessions and continuing selling or giving everything away.

I agree that μ43 and 36×24 are miles/km apart for the most part. Using f/1.2 works for bokeh but when Lumix uses the same body for g9ii and S5 it's a clue that fast μ43 lenses are heavy and expensive.

With a bargain-centric budget and early 36×24 bodies below $1k, I could not justify a fully worked up micro kit when less kit with a larger sensor could be had. My μ43 gear yields technically great images, but not quite the sort I enjoyed making.
