News Sigma BF

Starting to get BF user experience videos now:

Finally finished watching it… a couple of things that struck me:

First, felt like he was tap-dancing around the outdoor screen issue; he mentioned it a bit awkwardly and then immediately moved on to the interface.

Second, the interface does look intriguing- I noticed him fumbling with it at times, but he seemed to like it after getting used to it. It does seem like you have to adapt to it, given how minimalist the feedback is (I.e. it seems to expect you to know where you’re at with the mini-screen serving as a brief signpost).

Was it just me, or did he seem to be doing a lot of tapping at the screen expecting a response, and then tapping again?

IIRC, didn’t they specifically mention ‘smartphone shooters who want something more’ in their initial announcement? Or am I conflating that with the first round of commentary on it?
Yes, they mentioned this target group plus the usual photography who wants to habe something different.

I think we have to respect, that some (not all) smartphone users might want to have a better IQ and more influence on the settings, but at the same time they want to have a similar UIX like with their smartphone. Plus the design of a flagship smartphone.

How many Apple IPhone 16 max, Samsung 25 max and Google Pixel 8 Pro etc. have been sold in only one year?

If only 5% of these would be interested in the Sigma BF, this would be a tremendous hit.

Regarding ergonomics with smartphones, Leica had a very good idea, this 300 € grip for the I-phones (only ), the Leica LUX grip:

You have to use it with the Leica LUX app (I don't know the price) and the you get "features with the bokeh effects of our legendary lenses like the Summilux-M or Noctilux-M. With full control over exposure, ISO and shutter speed, as well as the unique Leica Looks" ;)

According to Petapixel, Sigma can make just 9 BF's a day since it takes 7 hours for the CNC machine to mill the casing from a single block of aluminium:

So there are never going to be many of them.
I wonder if this is true...
I see them 'normally' in pre-order here in the Netherlands, both in black and silver:

I would expect them in 'special order' if they where that limited...

That's more of an indictment of Petapixel's sloppy research level than of Sigma's manufacturing capacity. I'm highly confident that Sigma has more than nine CNC mills.
