Hey all,

I started using Lumix cams with the GH4 in 2014 at my first production job. It stood out from the other DSLRs we were using, and I even preferred it over the Canon C300 at the time.

Fast forward to 2019, when I replaced my Sony A7SII kit with a Lumix S1H and S1. The rest is history. I instantly fell in love with the image quality, the customizable menu / button functionality, and the amount of video tools that Lumix offered. They also had neat tools like the Focus Transition and incredible IBIS, not to mention IS Boost, that caught my attention.

I became very involved with the Lumix Facebook Groups back in 2020 during the COVID lockdowns. I really enjoyed engaging with other Lumix shooters, helping them troubleshoot, and discussing project. This enthusiasm eventually led me to becoming part of the Lumix Creators Backstage (LCB) group. They are a group of talented creators who share the same passion for Lumix as one another. A perk of being part of the group is gaining access to some early firmware and gear releases as well.

I use Lumix cameras for mainly wedding filmmaking work. However, I shoot all Sony FX3 and FX6 at my full-time job as a DP / Senior Video Editor at a creative agency in Burlington, VT called Driven Studio. This unique roll allows me to see the pros and cons of both systems. This led me to becoming an invaluable beta tester for new Lumix cameras and firmware.

I'm also an ambassador with Kolari Vision.

I'm excited to be a part of this group!

Welcome Dan!! Really great background.

I didn't get in on the GH4 and remained a Sony video shooter until the S1 came out and added full video capability. Then I jumped to Lumix and have been there ever since, with the S1H and a string of Lumix cameras after that. I mainly shoot travelogs for friends and family. I do HDR video which is mainly why I switched to Lumix with10 bit video. Back then the only way I could get more than 8 bits for HDR was with my FS7 II and the original Atomos recorder with ProRes RAW. Lumix freed me from that clunky setup, and I've become a dedicated fan since then.

Welcome Dan! Good to have someone of your experience on board.

Nice man! Yeah, that's right. I almost forget that Lumix was the first to really add 4k 60p 10bit (albeit cropped) to a small, full-frame mirrorless body. Unfortunately, that was overshadowed by the A7SIII release. Which I'll admit...Sony did create a hell of a processor / sensor with that one. Considering it's still one of the gold standards (in the FX3 and 6) today. Despite the powerhouse processor that Sony has, I still prefer Lumix for many reasons. Mostly image quality and color.

Thank you! Good to be here. I do have to ask, is there a way to prevent so many pop-up ads on this page?

To be honest, I use an ad blocker so I've never seen any.

Got it! Also, I tried posting a YouTube video of mine about a really helpful product (clip-in olpf) for Lumix filmmakers. Yes, there is an affiliate link in the YouTube video description, but I didn’t post it directly to the forum. The post was deleted. Is there a way to post this? That’s not against the rules? I’m genuinely trying to help people out.

welcome Dan!
So you get to play with all the good stuff before everyone else :p We really like to speculate what is coming next. With you aboard that might go to the next level.

Dan,

I sent you a PM regarding that advertisement after I deleted it. Do not play the innocent. Play by the rules like everybody else.

We do not want to have our platform misused as a free advertising platform for products. If your affiliated company wants to do advertising, they have to do it the honest, professional way. You can contact me for this via PM and not in a public thread.

Not playing innocent…No problem at all. Just trying to share the information. I’ll do it another way.

Haha, well I may be able to drop hints or say, yes or no, to certain questions, but I'm under NDA and have to be careful. Speculation is always fun too :-)

Let me know if you have any questions about the OLPF.
I asked over on YouTube, but in case you missed it: Did Kolari say if their OLPF is effective with the S5iiX camera’s high-res 96 megapixel mode? Cheers.
