Thank you. I try to establish a baseline of what could be acceptable. Or what I can tolerate... cause I know I should not expect the performance of the 24-60 or 16-35 (which both are already very good on 24mp wide open). But in that sense I don't know exactly what to expect. My expectations are that the images are usable wide-open and not as obvious soft as my previous sample, and at F8 it should have about the same performance as the 24-105 at their overlapping range.

You should expect nice pictures, and no visible defects in real photos. How often do we shoot a brick wall in RL situations?
This vacation we where 'just' in Limburg, and I did snap some pictures with the lens, they are in the Juli thread. Excellent pictures? No, but Venlo isn't that photogenic and also my wife (and our dog) didn't want to wait all the time.
I do notice: in city I mostly shoot with the 28-200mm, in the country more often with the 16-28mm. But might be different for you.
Except for your Amsterdam pictures 
they were with the 16-28. I do like the 16-35 in cities as well.. In the city you take pictures of a LOT of brick walls, or other flat texture with detail all over the place. So in the sense of your last posted picture here, I have maybe taken like 10 of them in my whole life. But I don't want to end up with ruined pictures which I had with a Fuji 18-135 in Granada. More or less same problem as the pictures I shared earlier with the 28-200. At infinity at max zoom...
This is what I call unusable.... on the camera screen the pictures looked fine. And all other pictures with the lens where fine, except max zoom at infinity, there the problems where exaggerated. And it was my secondary lens as well, so nothing else was ruined.
This is NOT the LUMIX 28-200, but a sample of the Fuji XF18-135 @135 F8, infinity focussed

This sample is much, much better. And quite strong at the tele end. Happy to try to use this. 35 is still the worst setting, but ok at f71.

One more question. With this lens attached I see some strange behaviour, or did I mess up something ? With this lens attached, Aperture priority + auto iso look like it is keeping the shutter speed at 1/250 and keeps upping the iso until 6400 (max I have set I guess) and only then starts lowering the shutter speed. I only saw it with this lens attached. Some weird software bug ?

35/4.5 seems ok to me... only the car needs to be cleaned it was either this or a brick wall .. the wall was nice too.
Car is only secondary and already 15 years old. 160.000+ and never ever issues. runs like a clock. full efficient.... my other car is a much newer Toyota Corolla Touring Sports hybrid (no plug-in) with 184 bhp.

As far as I know I don't have this issue...
But I do understand the 24-105 F4 what you bought from me will again get a new owner?
I guess it will have to go. I have too many lenses already. But I still have time to think things over. Maybe I don’t like photography but just like to collect black round can shaped stuff with glass in it. No seriously, I love the 24-105, but it’s too big to bring along as secondary lens for just in case. So I evaluate this lens for a few weeks and decide.
But as only lens on a day trip, that 24-105 is damn good. Nice range, good sharpness and rendering. Amazing OIS.

I think this is normal behaviour.
In Aperture priority mode and auto ISO set, the camera will push the ISO up if there is insufficient exposure for the selected aperture for the scene. After hitting the upper ISO limit (default is 6400 but can be changed) the camera will begin to lower the shutter speed to maintain exposure.
You can set a minimum shutter speed too, but the camera will override this if you hit the upper ISO limit. The custom setting I use for moving trains is Aperture priority mode, F8, minimum shutter speed of 1/800s and auto ISO with an upper limit of 12800. This higher ISO limit ensures that my shutter speed does not get overridden.
I thought previously that it lowered to a preset lowest shutter speed like 1/30 and then would start upping iso. Now it keeps it 1/250 until it can’t hold that shutter speed. So one is prioritizing iso, the other method shutter speed. But maybe I didn’t notice it before. Or maybe somewhere i changed something.

Maybe check if you have set a minimum shutter speed set. The manual for this feature says that the default is AUTO in which case the camera automatically sets the minimum shutter speed, but it doesn't say what that is.
Yes, it was de min-shutter speed standing on auto, and it tried to use 1/focallength aprox with a minimum of 1/60 and 1/250 over 80mm. I never noticed it with the 24-105. What I did now was assign my WB fn-button to the min-shutter speed setting. I hardly change WB from Auto as only use raw anyway. And via q-menu I can change WB also very fast if I want to. These last few posts could be set in a new thread of their own so someone can follow this and find it back. And has nothing to do with pictures taken with the 28-200. Can you do that @pdk42 ?
