Latest S1ii rumours

Ah, for a scope, I see why you prefer the S5 screen. I'm "astroscape" photog so for me it's just the camera & L-bracket on a tripod.

And yes, I was thinking about a power bank as I was typing my above reply. Agree it would be better.

I can't wait to see what they captured in Trömso, Norway with the Lumix trip :) I follow Daniel ernst on YouTube, and can dream away with the footage he makes in the north :). How insane would it be when they would launch the new Lumix zoom in the 500mm range with the camera :p

Maybe your lenses will be sharper on it,
I doubt it.
maybe it was shutter shock with S1R,
Never seen shutter shock on any of my Lumix S cameras.
a load of Leica SL users were complaining about that but with EFCS it shouldn't exist.
Interesting.
New camera will also have hybrid zoom etc. which is even better again with the 44MP sensor.
How do you know that?
Sounds like you are buying it Daumenhoch
I'm sure I will at some point. For the moment I'm happy with my S1 and S1R. But something smaller and lighter would be appreciated. Lots of other priorities over the next few months so I doubt I'll be rushing out to buy.

Very nice camera for a pro to make money. Maybe someday when the next 60mp version is already out I might consider it if it is heavily discounted. It not expensive for what you get compared to the competition. But it’s still a lot of money for hobby.

I love the cam, also the new app for the phone for video sounds nice. But please let there be a solution for B-RAW... I want full control in Davinci Resolve, and I don't want an Apple to have that.
no, you want an apple for everything :)

I had a friend who was a rally driver and he'd spend that on tyres in a weekend he said, and that was 20 years ago

Put everything into it and wouldn't or couldn't buy himself a pair of shoes.
I rather save some money to do nice trips :) but if your friend likes to spend his money like that, well good for him. I’m not judging.
I have friends with like 3 bikes for thousands of euro’s each, one for every day, one for sport, one for mountain bike , and I ordered my first new bike in 30 years last week because my old bike which I got 13 years ago 2nd hand died and spare parts were more expensive then the bikes worth. I only have one expensive hobby and that is traveling.

I just got a magic keyboard and trackpad for my M1 mini and it is a gorgeous experience... 4 years after buying it and using a crappy Logitech windows keyboard and mouse.

Not just pretty but marvellously engineered, strong BT signal and charging via cable.

Yeah, motor sport bleeds money.

Looking more closely at the specs, it looks like it's not using a stacked sensor. Whilst the readout speeds, video modes, and FPS are definitely better than the S5ii, it's clear that the S1Rii will lag the Nikon Z8, Canon R5ii, and the Sony A1 - all of which use stacked sensors. None of this bothers me for what I do, but I suspect when the reviewers make comparisons with these cameras that this point will be well made.

In other words, I think is going to sit somewhere between the S5ii/Z6ii/A7iv etc and the Z8/R5ii/A1. I think its projected price reflects this.

Maybe there will be an S1x or whatever later that ups the ante again?

He ended up divorced etc. over it, he was obsessed. No idea what happened to him since.

I was a bicycle racer, my Cannondale, Dura-Ace with Spinergy carbon wheels was ~£3000 in 1998, still have it and 3 others but I needed that spec for racing against Olympians etc... They had same equipment and when you beat them by 5 seconds then it's justified :p

Yip if it's just a cheap casual bicycle you can get a new one cheap, if you can't self service then it's not that cost effective to buy bug new components for them. Hopefully you can change a tyre though

Plenty of cameras get little use, you see used gear for sale from years back to recent times with a few 1000 clicks on them, sometimes only a few 100!

One of the things I love from this design, is the dedicated photo/video dial. This looks very useful. I presume this doubles also the custom modes. z04 dance00

It's by far the cheapest 8k 30, 4k 120 by far which is the big hybrid marketing point. Plus those cannot do 8.1k open gate either. The S1Rii should have really good rolling shutter performance with IMX366, how else do you do 4k 120p uncropped?

BTW I think 8k 60 in the Canonikon are cropped and use trickery, sampling or something.

If you mean photography wise as a sports camera I'd be surprised it'll match those, most probably not. Also the eye tracking AF EVF in Canon and other sport/action specialities for photography. Nobody expects it to be the equivalent of these but lets see how well it does and where it'll go through firmware.

I can use 1500€ before income tax once in 5 years for a bike or computer. So it became a bike. So in real out of pocket money about 750€

Sporty lightweight city/trekking bike with shimano Alfine-11 gears, rollerbrakes etc.

But still I prefer to spend 750€ om a S18/1.8 and have a good old bike  yes I can change a tire. The insides of my old bike speedhub was broken, also needed new chains for my derailleur system of my old bike etc. Too much costs.

Yes, I am excited that Panasonic are releasing a new top-end camera but I can't justify spending what is likely to be $6,000 AUD to get it. Z04 975

I need to work on my photography skills and try to find more time to use my existing gear. A new camera might improve technical image quality but it won't create quality images.

I might create a Chris Niccolls "complaints bingo" list. It would include things like "Panasonic have missed an opportunity by not having at least a 60MP sensor", "It's hard to understand who this camera is for", "The battery life is terrible", "Why would you buy this camera when you can get a stacked sensor Sony/Canon/Nikon...", "It's not as beautiful as the OM3", etc.

He's an angry negative man.
