I love the cam, also the new app for the phone for video sounds nice. But please let there be a solution for B-RAW... I want full control in Davinci Resolve, and I don't want an Apple to have that.
 
It looks like the same size as the S5ii. I just hope that you can use the same cage and extragrip.

It has up to C5 custom modes (plus 10, like in the C3 of the S5ii). And an extra dial for the photo/video/s&q modes at the base of the top left wheel.

I am sold. Really. This camera has no flaws, except for the BRAW recording, and they will find a way for sure.

I really like the C1-C5 on the top dial. I need more than 3 configurations, and I really hate menu diving to get past 3.

Rear screen looks like it will work with an L-bracket.

Won't miss the top screen, as Panasonic's implementation never worked for me (font size was too small). And I do like the two top dials. And the lower weight.

Prolly convert the S1 to astro, and sell the S5 & S1R.
 
Should be £2999 in the UK, that's £1500 cheaper than Canon R5 II

Looks like 24-105 f4 combo offered again for a discount if you're after this lens.

For once my speculation last year was correct about the body size and specifically S5ii copy size :p, I'm not surprised the top LCD is gone either, some like these but they are DSLR relics, maybe even some SLR. I see them as unnecessary, unused taking up real estate. I like the red video button but last time was pressing this instead of ISO as I'm still a noob with S5ii.

Only thing I dislike is they moved the joystick up and further towards the EVF and seeing as I'm a leftie that means sticking my thumb into my face. Xavier likes the rear thumb wheel moved inwards but I liked it where it was, and don't miss the lock wheels either, I never accidentally shift the S5ii dials and they're quicker to dial but that's personal taste.

Yes it is the GH7 screen which adds a few and chunkier. Again smart to use components across bodies which means they can offer it for this price.

It must use the same batteries as S5, S5ii and more... This is also a great thing for obvious reasons.

Are they too late to the party though as Andrea says? I don't think so as the price opens up a market who wouldn't spend the significantly more money on the big boy equivalents.

And a second camera is also coming, perhaps at the prices of the top canon/Nikon/Sony? I DO wonder wich sensor that would have? Perhaps the top sensor from BMD?

It was quite expensive: 600€ , but there are no other companies in Germany for such conversions on non Canon cameras anymore...

I think it will be a great camera, with lot of improvements and a good set of functions.

So only thing for me is the decision of marketing to call it S1RII. For me it is a S5R with great features, but not a "1 series". Maybe we will never see a new 1 again, but with this decision there will be at least no big flagship in the midterm future...

Yeah, I could do my S5 as well.

However, my S1 has a bad trigger button - so I shoot it BBF only - which would make it harder to sell, or require me to send it in for repair. Might as well just convert it and avoid spending money on the repair. I also prefer the rear screen - works better with an L-bracket, IMO. And have the excellent (and now discontinued) RRS L-bracket for it.

Perhaps I'll find a used battery grip for it.
 
Exciting stuff. I try to keep my excitement to a dull roar until after the camera ships & has production (not beta) firmware that knowledgeable users can shoot with and see what’s real vs hype. The devil is always in the details.

Panasonic is capable of producing truly excellent cameras, so this new camera looks very promising indeed. I’m not in the market for a new camera, but I hope owners of this new one will enjoy taking great photos & video with it! Cheers!

That would be way-cool. I suspect BMD’s top sensor is very expensive. We’ll see.

Maybe your lenses will be sharper on it, maybe it was shutter shock with S1R, a load of Leica SL users were complaining about that but with EFCS it shouldn't exist.

New camera will also have hybrid zoom etc. which is even better again with the 44MP sensor. Same with AF performance with moving targets and cropping ability.

The trigger is a fair argument!
But for astrophotography I will mount the camera to a scope and then the full articulating screen of the S5 is better in my opinion, gives you more choices to look on it independent from the position of the object...

For longer battery life you don't need the battery grip, you can connect an USB Powerbank for longer battery life.

In Germany I was able to get the battery grip for the S1R and the S5 for 149€ each from MediaMarkt (new). They sell stuff after about 1-2 years in the store with a lot of discount to empty their storage. I would never have paid the 349€ regular price ...
