Whitby with the Sigma fp L and Sigma 65/2.

The harbour at low tide.

Stones (St Mary's church in the first photo).

The Abbey.
Excellent pictures, Alan, the Sigma 65 f2 is becoming my favourite prime for photo.

They're also a great way for me to check the sharpness of a lens. :)
Yes, distant winter trees are a bit of a torture test for a lens. But the 24-105 deals with them very well. The more I use the 24-105 (and it's my most-used lens), the more I appreciate it. I think it's a very under-appreciated lens. Sharpness is great, the range is a step up on the 24-70 lenses, the OIS / Sync IS is fantastic for FF, and it's got a useful semi-macro capability too.

This is the most sensible thing you've said to date on here Z02 Deal1:p

<nod> I have to admit, it's larger and heavier than I'd like, and certainly more than I can afford at the moment. ^^;;

One I like on that test is the Konica 65-135/4, which is about 1/3 lighter than the 24-105:

Lumix S5, Konica Hexanon 65-135/4 (even resolves the bulbs on the strings of Xmas lights)

...though it's still too heavy to really be usable on the fp.

24-105 is definitely better suited to S5ii style body or bigger (keeping certain S1R owners happy Z04 Discosmilie ).

I was and still am delighted with the £1899 GBP combo price with the S5ii and I got the 70-300 for discounted £699 along with it.

A few USA members on dpreview last year got a 24-105 new for 650 US or something including the Gun's n Rose's photography which he used for concerts Z04 Bier01

I got great 24-105 & 70-300 copies. At towards 105mm at f4 sure the corners and edges get more blurred, the only supposedweakness but it actually helps with portraiture, few times you would need 105mm at f4 for corner sharpness in landscape. For example the S5ii 24-105 combo has dual active stabilisers allowing the f8 stuff until it gets really dark. Maybe bracketing afficiodas will be on a tripod regardless.

Here is mine at f8, it can attest closeest focus 0.5x is superb and bokeh is as Creamy Tony you'd want, even f8 is nice, plus an element of 3D pop which gets better towards wide open f4.
