*** February 2025 Image and Video Thread ***

The Chinese are releasing 50 & 85mm lemses into a market full of the Lumix versions they gave away as with the S5ii, 50, 85 and 20-60 last year.... Crazy bargain. 85 used still not cheap though? No idea why?

Thanks. I agree! :)
I've similar with a Pentax compact 6MP and these have the CCDs and manufacturers tried to make them as filmic. It is good already, I'm sure modern upscaling works well.

I couldn't replicate most of mine, I could try some but the coklective look of that camera is vintage 2000s. It had great close bokeh too, it had an interesting look if you could only do video whichbit had 240 or something... But still recorded memories. Daumenhoch

Here's a 2009 view of Haystack Rock and Cannon Beach I snapped using an ancient point & shoot. The beach at low tide is very photogenic!

It looks like something out of Ankgor Wat, the way the sides curve up like that.

Yeah... there were definitely a few I took back when that I really wish I had the chance to go back and re-take with a better camera; unfortunately, several of the places have changed and the pic ain't there no more. :(

#1 on my re-take list:

Hi Simon: I like your photo very much. However, the little annoying voice in my head (from my past life wearing a headset as a TV studio cameraman) is saying, "Tilt up! Tilt up!" Z04 Flucht

The yakking "technical director in the control room" wants to see more of the ceiling's curved arches at the top of the frame. IOW, less of the floor and more of the ceiling.

But of course, neither the long-ago TD nor I were there with you when you captured this beautiful photo. So, thanks for sharing, and I look forward to seeing more of your work. Cheers!

My pleasure, and thank-you for your kind words! Note the aesthetic placement of the smoke detector.

I can hear the technical director, after they tell me through the headset to “Tilt up!”, then they say “What the h*ll is that?! Tilt down!”, when they see the smoke detector.
