Your favourite lenses for 2024 - and why

I am also in love with the Sigma Art 85/1.4. I also often use the Sigma 45/2.8.

I also have the Panasonic 35/1.8, but I rarely use it. In 2024 I sold a few lenses that I rarely used (Panasonic 26/8, Panasonic 50/1.8).

I mainly photograph my family and the street. (I am still waiting for a suitable 28mm fixed focal length or will have to buy a zoom for this focal length after all...)

Sigma 100/2.8 sounds nice to me too, but I think it is too short for what I want it to do, and to long for normal use.

A 70-200/2.8 would be my surrogate of a 135 prime, but the weight and price is not up to my ally.

Nice to see that everyone (who still have it) seems to love the 70-300 .

I am waiting for Lumix to release the 24-60 f/2.8 lens on the market, as planned in the last Lens roadmap that came out in October 2024...

I think it is a very interesting option, similar to Sony's 24-50 f/2.8 G.

Totally missed that one… what would be its stand out feature be vs the existing 24-70/2.8 ? If you look at Panasonics own line-up, it should be a smaller and non-pro version 2.8 zoom for prosumers.

With the 20-60 I like the range, albeit a bit short and too slow. And don’t care much for its rendering. If this one has character in a good way, then it fixes for me 2 of the 3 problems I had with the 20-60.

One of the most intriguing lenses of Sony to me is the 20-70/4. That one really ticks all the boxes for me. Spec wise, don’t know how it really is.

...

I think there is a little discussion in the speculations, what that might be. Some thinking it will be a 24-60/2.8 and a smaller alternative to a 24-70/2.8 or a wider alternative to the 28-70/2.8.

But others think it also could be a 24-60/2.0. What would be a wider and longer alternative to the 28-45/1.8.

I think it might be the new kitlens, for the new camera's what are coming. A bit higher quality than the current 20-60 kit lens, for kits with a more expensive camera's

As I still love using my M43 gear my FF gear needed to make a real difference. So on my S5IIX I love using the Sigma 28-45 f1.8 and Meike 85mm f1.4
My Sigma 16-28 & 70-200 2.8 get only little use and I'm thinking about selling them. But not sure yet.
