Would the Panasonic 14-28mm be redundant if I already have a Panasonic 18mm F1.8 and the Sigma 24mm F2??
I need to re-think my lens selection.
I was thinking: Panasonic 18mm, Sigma 24mm F2 and the Panasonic 28-200mm.

I tend to stick to 14-50mm though. That makes me think about the 20-60mm. Why did I get rid of it? I also want the Sigma 45mm F2.8 because of the size. :(
Decisions, decisions! haha

Possibly, but it's hard to say not knowing how you shoot.

I like having the additional width of the 14-28mm zoom but you might find the aperture of f4-5.6 a bit limiting compared with f1.8 on the Lumix 18mm and f2 on the Sigma 24mm.

That's what I'm thinking. I would have to use the 18mm F1.8 at night... Maybe I should buy the 45mm F2.8 and the 28-200mm. haha

I usually just take candid and travel pictures. I had the 14-28mm before and sold it. I sold it to buy the 18mm. haha.

All of these are with the 18mm.

I had the 14-28mm before and sold it.
Why did you sold it? What was the reasoning behind it? What did you hope for with the swap to the 18mm FFL?

I mostly like to take pictures at night and to keep ISO low.
ok, that is a good starting point. I asked this tough, because there is always an emotional reasoning behind a decision most people are not aware of. By asking again and again deeper and deeper, you force them to think about it more intense and find arguments, they were not aware of, but which they unintentionally applied in that old buying decision. Does this make sense in my bad English?

So you had already the 14-28, the aperture was at that time not good enough for low light and you hoped to resolve this problem with an F1.8 lens.

How many images did you shoot in the mean time at F1.8 and how many with the Lumix 18/1.8 FFL with bigger apertures like i.e. F5.6?

If you shoot handheld and people are moving in the scene, you will have a harder time with F2.8 to keep the ISO low, because the shutter speed has to be high.

Test this out with your FFL by setting the aperture always at F2.8. Then you will see, whether that is good enough for you or not. The 14-24 has the advantage, that it weights around 800g, but replaces 2 FFL. The advantage is that you do not need to change lenses all the time and have still not more weight to carry around than with the 2 FFL.

All of my night pictures were taken wide open. :)
There's some in the afternoon that were also taken wide open like this one:

Ro you think it was necessary to shoot wide open? To be honest, I don't think so. The people in the frame are not the main subject and I don't think motion blur from the people would harm the picture. They are already a little blurry. So you could shoot slower shutter speeds. Also you shoot with an S5II. The camera can handle much higher ISO than ISO100 very well. Don't be scared of higher ISO. There is no need to stay at ISO100.

Hmmmmm. Somehow, I don't think it's the lenses that are the issue here
Haha. I’m not having an issue with any lenses. The issue here is money. Would love to have them all. I only take snapshots that I want to keep as a memory, I don’t do photography for a living. I’ve been criticized already with very saturated colors and bad composition.

I was thinking of the Panasonic 14-28mm that’s lighter. Haha. Thank you for the replies. They’ve been helpful. :)

At the time I only had the 18mm F1.8 with me. That’s true though, I’ve been very impressed with iso 6400!

Yes, but you have to think about if f1.8 is really necessary for your photos. If yes, you have to keep the 18/1.8. if not, you can switch to the 14-28.

Then your choices are really really easy. You don't "need" any of your gear. So don't over extend yourself. L mount has some really really good quality options, that aren't that expensive at all. Such as the 14-28mm that you already sold. You can pick up the Lumix 50mm f1.8 new, for a song. I got mine for $290? brand new. The Lumix 85mm f1.8 can also be had cheap as chips. As long as you don't need them "now" Wait for a sale. It's only a hobby. The 20-60mm can be had nearly for free. All excellent lenses. That don't break the bank.
I can afford to buy pretty much whatever I want in the system, but why? The lenses above do whatever I want, so why put yourself under financial pressure, for no reason, other than keeping up with the Jones's

I’ve purchased the lenses that I’ve had for a good price. Panasonic has had good promotions. The 18mm was purchased cheaper than the 14-28mm. I tend to stick to 14-50mm, but did think about the 28-200mm for travel as I have a few trips coming up. I’m a teacher and have the summer off. :)
