Which lens should I choose next for S9?

Controversial claim - for family pictures, it's hard to beat a smartphone.

For convenience, yes. But not for image quality. That was my point.

I have the 18-40, the 24 f 3.5 and a 35 f 2.0. Without a viewfinder I tend to stick with the wide angles it makes life easier, but everyone is different. Just take more pic’s so you get better.

Yes, but for most normal people (i.e. non photographers!), that's not important.

Another possibility:

7Artisans AF 24mm f/1.8

(I haven’t tried one yet, but am curious about it myself.)
I'm still researching this 7Artisans lens. Appears to be a very good value for a full-frame, AF, 24mm, F1.8, L-mount lens.

So ... maybe a new lens for me in the new year? We'll see ... :)

35mm and 50mm are ceratinly the best focal lengths for baby and small child photography. I almost never used 35mm until I had kids but now I find it the perfect focal length for environmental portraits and for closer portraits when involved in an activity with my daughters, such as a board game or crafts. 24mm can also be useful (you'll need at least f/2 for subject isolation) but I find 35mm more so.

I use the Sigma 35mm f/2 DG DN I-series lens, which has already been recommended in this thread, and find it to be nothing short of superb, but I have also read good things about the Lumix 35/1.8, the Meike 35/1.8 and the new Sirui 35/1.4. I'd love a faster 35mm but I suspect their size and weight would reduce their convenience for many of the situations I use a 35mm for. The Viltrox 40mm f/2 is very nice but the slightly slower AF and it's proximity to the 50mm focal length you already have would make a 35mm a better choice in my opinion.

I bought the Panasonic 35mm f1.8.
Until now I used it just shortly on one occasion but the first results look promising!
