I had the GR3x (40mm) and exchanged it for the normal GR3 28mm. Sometimes I wish I hadn’t. The GR3 its size is unbelievable. A very very good Aps-c camera, with an outstanding lens, much better then the Fuji X100v. But in the size of a pack of cigarettes, Feels very sturdy in the hand (magnesium-alloy body), and very good one handed operation. Fits in a jeans pocket. Usable up to iso 1600.

But actually the 40mm is better for me as it challenges me more. With my time with Fuji the XF18/1.4 was my favorite lens. 40mm was too tight for my envisioned use case, like environmental portraits with family in a restaurant etc. and replace my iPhone main camera.When I bought the GR3x I still had the 18/1.4. But after switching to S5ii and selling all Fuji gear the beloved 28mm eqv of the GR3 made more sense to me.

So if you really like the 40mm look, and don’t necessarily need an evf, GR3x is something to consider.

I'd love to have GR3X.
There is no another cam like this for the street photography.
I wish, they had it with EVF, too. I don't really mind, if it's bigger cam due to EVF.

Well... If money is not a topic, there might be now ;-)
First of all, I am not a fan of Sony cameras.

But I saw a great video comparing the new RX1iii with the Leica D-Lux8, Q3, Q3 43 and für Fuji GFX100RF.
And the RX1iii selling point is definitely the size and weight. It's tiny, even a little smaller then the MFT sensor based D-Lux 8. There are things wich could be better, but if you look for maximum performance in a non intriguing size, that's an incredible camera. And the the Zeiss lens f2.0 and the 60MP sensor cropping to 43mm is not a issue at all I guess. There shall be so kind of digital crop zoom, but I do not know if this can be freely defined.
 
I've mentioned it a few times, but I really like my Canon EF 40mm f2.8 pancake on my S5. But the Viltrox adaptor is bigger than the lens itself LoL. Not that that particularly worries me. I'd like to try it on a PDAF body out of curiosity, it's not too slow on the S5, but not quick either.

Quoted because we're not allowed to edit -but it always surprises me just how nice an image comes out of that tiny, cheap little lens. I'm sure I paid less than 200 bucks Au, brand new, for mine, and I got the adapter 2nd hand cheap as well. So not a large investment however you want to look at it. Anyway. pictures are better than words, with the right subject, in the right light, the images can really pop. Yeah, I know, hackneyed old cliche, but I think it's true.

When I do go looking, I'm really really surprised at just how much I do shoot with it, and that doesn't even include anything I shoot at work for documentation purposes.

I never thought about this "hack". I will test it after I return.

If you crop 35mm to make the same FOV as a 40mm lens, you'd lose about 20% resolution. So, just get an S1Rii and the Sigma 35mm and you'll get lovely 40mm FOV shots at about 33Mp! Or you could just get closer!

Besides, I hate Sony so much, Q3 43 is a pure winner here, hands down.
Also, the price of those two cams are almost the same.
If I was willing to spend such money on fixed lens compact, that'd be Q3 43.
Fuji is no-no for me. I'm done with Fuji. Their color science is better, than from CaNiSon ... but, I like Lumix's color science much more.
I'm not convinced to the look of images from Leica D-Lux8, yet.
I edited some of downloaded from the net D-Lux8 RAW files, and they look very much like from iPhone.
Otherwise, it is a nice looking compact.
Perhaps, I should try this cam by myself.
Maybe, I'll get it. It's on my A-list.

Are you sure, I'd loose so much as 20%?
My calculation is ca. 3.43MP less from 24MP
Even, if it's lesss thatn 20MP, it's a big problem for me. As, I used to frame an image right, before I shoot.
So, I seldom crop images. If so, it's just a little.
If Lumix will come up 12-18MP FF sensor, I'd get it right away.
Bigger size of pixel cells are more important for me, than the bigger number of them.
I know, a cropped image doesn't change the size of pixels on sensor.

If you going to test it,... take a closer look at focus breathing.
Also, I figure, a little cropped image will eliminate the lateral CA near the edges.
