So I took my camera swimming

As you may have picked up from some of my pickies, we're currently holidaying in NZ. It's a beautiful spot. Absolutely beautiful. Lots to see & do. Main purpose of the visit was/is to catch up with family, and friends. Swap stories, spend a bit of time together, have a bit of fun. Caught up with some relo's over at their camping ground over on the Waikato river system. They took us for a quick run up into one of the thermal water areas. Everyone tried to discourage me from taking my expensive camera and lens, me being me didn't listen, took the S5, and was glad I did :) See what you think.

A quick sprint up the lake/river to the creek

And we're pretty much into it straight away. The water is warm. Fabulously warm. 38-40 degrees C at an educated guess. It's also about chest deep here. To get through the narrow bits, I had to hold my camera and arms up above my head, and was still brushing the rock walls. It's not called "The squeeze" for nothing lol. The kids took pool noodles, and were pushed/dragged through by the adults :)
Oh, & ISO 12800 by the way, only a quick run through SilkyPix. Nothing else. The S5 makes an absolutely brilliant holiday/travel camera.

And then you stumble across this. It's narrower than the ultrawide Lumix 14-28mm makes it look. And humid too.

Natural hot showers. Pretty much unmolested by humans/developers/tours. Warm as warm.

Sitting around with family, in a natural as natural as you can get, hot tub. Reminiscing about the old times, and new. Telling tales, swapping stories, It really can't get any better than that, believe me

And there's that couple again :) I'm really really glad I took the S5 & ultrawide. Something most people would never get to experience in a lifetime. It handled the spray, wet hands, humidity & all without a hitch.

I've got more pickies to quickly edit as I get the time, & I'll add a few more here

Lovely pics, but you’re mad !
He he he. You'll get no argument from me on that :) The biggest issue I had, was the steam. My daughter had a scarf that she had in a waterproof bag, you'd wipe the lens and get about 3 seconds to try & snap off a shot before the front element fogged up. On the outside, not a spec of condensation inside anything.

Great images, Markus!

That lens is really versatile. I love the contrast that your images offer. Also for video it is very good. It's my favorite Lumix FF lens.

I love these pictures from the North Island!!

I've spent more time bumming around the South Island, but here is a North Island picture from early 2020 (when the pandemic was just a rumor). This is an isolated guest cottage on the west side, south of New Plymouth. With some family and a good friend, sitting around and enjoying life at this beautiful spot for a few days.

Just looking at those nice and fun pictures makes me want to move away from the Netherlands and settle somewhere else. in the last 40 days, only 1 day with a bit of sun. Actually my 16 solar panels got 7kwh for the whole month of December.

Chunky boy took his camera surfing too. Wake surfing. First attempt ever :) Never got to drop the rope, and surf just the wake, but got close. Great fun.
Camera handled the wet hands, a bit of spray, rolling around on the boat seats just fine. No cover, sleeve or enclosure of any kind, just as naked as a new born. Very very happy with it. Makes a fantastic travel camera

If you look half way up the frame, and just to left of centre, you can just see my toes looking up out of the water lol lol.

Oh wow, I would find that tough! Hope you get some better weather soon.

Be careful what you wish for. Here in sunny California we have not had ANY rain this rainy season, and everything is very dry. And today we have very high winds and destructive fires. The past two years we've had lots of rain, but not this year and still none in the forecast.

Charles: Stay safe down there! We’re watching online live local TV news coverage of the multiple out of control fires in the Los Angeles area, driven by wind gusts up to 100 mph! Very frightening. State of CA fire map:
