So I took my camera swimming

As you may have picked up from some of my pickies, we're currently holidaying in NZ. It's a beautiful spot. Absolutely beautiful. Lots to see & do. Main purpose of the visit was/is to catch up with family, and friends. Swap stories, spend a bit of time together, have a bit of fun. Caught up with some relo's over at their camping ground over on the Waikato river system. They took us for a quick run up into one of the thermal water areas. Everyone tried to discourage me from taking my expensive camera and lens, me being me didn't listen, took the S5, and was glad I did :) See what you think.

A quick sprint up the lake/river to the creek

And we're pretty much into it straight away. The water is warm. Fabulously warm. 38-40 degrees C at an educated guess. It's also about chest deep here. To get through the narrow bits, I had to hold my camera and arms up above my head, and was still brushing the rock walls. It's not called "The squeeze" for nothing lol. The kids took pool noodles, and were pushed/dragged through by the adults :)
Oh, & ISO 12800 by the way, only a quick run through SilkyPix. Nothing else. The S5 makes an absolutely brilliant holiday/travel camera.

And then you stumble across this. It's narrower than the ultrawide Lumix 14-28mm makes it look. And humid too.

Natural hot showers. Pretty much unmolested by humans/developers/tours. Warm as warm.

Sitting around with family, in a natural as natural as you can get, hot tub. Reminiscing about the old times, and new. Telling tales, swapping stories, It really can't get any better than that, believe me

And there's that couple again :) I'm really really glad I took the S5 & ultrawide. Something most people would never get to experience in a lifetime. It handled the spray, wet hands, humidity & all without a hitch.

I've got more pickies to quickly edit as I get the time, & I'll add a few more here

Lovely pics, but you’re mad !
He he he. You'll get no argument from me on that :) The biggest issue I had, was the steam. My daughter had a scarf that she had in a waterproof bag, you'd wipe the lens and get about 3 seconds to try & snap off a shot before the front element fogged up. On the outside, not a spec of condensation inside anything.

Great images, Markus!

That lens is really versatile. I love the contrast that your images offer. Also for video it is very good. It's my favorite Lumix FF lens.

I love these pictures from the North Island!!

I've spent more time bumming around the South Island, but here is a North Island picture from early 2020 (when the pandemic was just a rumor). This is an isolated guest cottage on the west side, south of New Plymouth. With some family and a good friend, sitting around and enjoying life at this beautiful spot for a few days.
