Sigma black Friday offers

I received a mail from Sigma's Spanish importer/dealer stating which lenses will be on offer for black Friday (just from Friday to Monday). The four APS-C primes along with the 18-50/2.8, none of them much use for L-mount, and the 16-28mm f/2.8 and 28-70mm f/2.8. Not exactly a great range and no idea yet of what the discount will be, but may be of interest to someone. I imagine the discounts will also be applied in the UK and Europe, they usually are.

As usual on Amazon the only BF reductions on mirrorless lenses are for Sony mount.

Having typed the above, if anything should have a Black Friday deal it's the Sigma BF!
 
In the photography Shop in Vienna where I buy the gear new (digitalstore.at), they sell the Sigma 24-70 f2.8 DG DN ii for €1.014 after € 200 cashback...

And the Sigma 35mm f 1.2 DG ii for € 1.349...

But, I am surprised because this Black Friday Photo and Video Days, as this shop call them, has not a single offer for Lumix gear, while they have a lot of discounted products for Sony, Canon, Nikon, Fuji, Tamron, Sigma, etc. They have the usual bundle and winter offers but not a single Black Friday discount for Lumix gear.

We were thinking about upgrading my wife's Lumix S5 ii for a S1iie, but we will have to wait.

That could be an indication, that Lumix sales numbers in Austria are good enough without a promotion. Good for Panasonic. Bad for us. You can not have it all.

1014 for the 24-70/2.8 II is an excellent price - I think that's slightly less than I paid for my mark I three years ago (there was a Sigma offer at the time then too). Here the mark II is 1149 after the 200 discount.

Here in Spain the Amazon price for an S1IIE recently dropped from 2799 to 2199 and it's not a BF offer.

Many of the standard prices there in Austria are lower than the reduced prices here in Spain.

The S5D with 18-40mm for €799 is the same here and is without doubt the best deal in full frame mirrorless. It's cheaper than most APS-C cameras.
 
The prices for the S1II and S1RII still seems quite stable. Only down from 3499 € to 3236 € (3036 € including trade in) for the S1II or down from 3599 € to 3299 € (3099 € including trade in) for the S1RII. That's only about 8 % down from initial retail proce, 13-14 % if you include trade-in boni.

In comparison, the Z6III was already down to 2100 € from 2999 € in a few months less after release, at it's first black week sales. That's -30 %.
The Z5II also is already down more than 20 % at this year's black week sales. Release was around the time of the S1RII release.
The S5II was at 1749 € (about 20 % down from 2199 €) at its first black week after release, however it was a few months longer time frame.
Canon's R6II was released in November 22, big sales on black Friday only shortly after release wasn't to expect. It also didn't fall much from its initial 2899 € during the first half year on the market, but it went down almost % at black week 2023. What was very comparable (a little less) to the sales price decrease of the S5II.
The prices decrease of the Sony A7IV was also very comparable to the R6II, with a reales shortly before black week and a decrease of almost 20 % for it's first black week sales about a year later.
A little surprising, the current prices in mind, is the small decrease of the S9 sales price. It only went down about 12 % from initial 1699 € to about 1499 € at its first black week in a similar time period like the second S1 Generation. However, now it's down around 40 % from its initial retail price.

Even though, the latest Lumix cameras are lot less aggressively priced compared to earlier models and also in comparison of the initial prices of the Z6III, Z5II, R6III and the rumored prices of the A7V (2999 €), the prices hold it's own.
 
In the case of the S9 I think the market pushed the price down as it unsurprisingly wouldn't have sold much at it's initial price, which was almost what the S5 II was selling at and the S5 II is a much more capable camera. The S9 was initially massively over-priced.

It would be nice to know how the S1 II cameras are selling as I don't get the impression that they're flying off the shelves.

But the price of the S9 didn't go down as fast as the price of the S5II. At least not in the beginning. The S5II was -20 % till black week sales, the S9 was only - 12 % till black week sales.

Also if you look at the market share for full frame in Japan, one of the few data points we have, Panasonic tripled it's share with the release of the S9 and stained stable significantly above the market share compared prior the S9 release.

Also the S9 was the highest ranked Lumix camera at Amazon.com last year.

But I have to agree. I also found the price quite high at release. That's why I was wondering why it took so long to decrease. Now it's more down than other cameras and closer to what I would think as a reasonable price for the S9.
