News Sigma BF

I do think that if Leica would release again a T, it would get more sales than in the past. With the new L-Mount alliance and the huge lens line up today, more people will be interested than 11 years ago.

I would be also interested in APS-C bodies in L-Mount. But this has to come from Leica and Sigma. For Panasonic it does not make sense to invest in APS-C, because they have MFT for a smaller format.
 
I’ve not seen anywhere whether the video is 10 bit. Or just 8 bit. Has anyone seen that?
 
I do not think that we will get more detailed reviews today, maybe even not tomorrow of the Sigma BF, because today there is the Lumix S1Rii announcement in the afternoon and the same youtubers cover both.

At least it looks like all youtubers made just in a hurry a 2 minute first impression of the Sigma BF to be able to get it out asap and the already finished reviews of the S1Rii can be released today after the NDA ends.

That makes sense to be able to get the most attention for both products. If the first wave of S1Rii reviews is over, they can then come out again with a detailed review of the Sigma BF and have the full attention span for the BF again.

There isn't a lot more to expect from what has already been published, you already know 90%. The BF AF has been shown etc.

There is zero from this minute onwards 7:47 GMT that will be a relevation, except for the BF having social media integration as a Pixel phone but it won't.

Interesting... don't think I'd processed it was that much wider than the fp.

And since I was able to go out shooting again this afternoon, thought I'd demonstrate why the lack of a viewfinder on the BF is such a big deal:

That's the fp's rear screen at full brightness... and I shoot in this bright sunlight fairly often. It's simply unusable for me. As awkward and bulky as the add-on EVF is, it's essential.

I follow Sigma on Instagram and a few weeks back they posted about the accessory "device" they have which fits over the fp's screen and turns it into a gigantic viewfinder. It looked terrible and unwieldy, I thought "how can they still be trying to sell nonsense like that in 2025...?".

I actually used that; it came with the fp I rented, before I decided to buy one.

To be fair, it was much better than it looked. There were no light leaks, and the magnified rear screen was probably better and clearer than even a good EVF. It handled and felt almost like a mini box-style medium format camera, like a Mamiya 645 or a Hasselblad. Actually comfortable to shoot with.

But it was definitely bulky and awkward to carry around, or put in a camera bag.

That is in the eye of the beholder- Different photographers have different taste. I like the design a lot and whether it is practical we can only judge, if we used the camera. Everything else is theory only. The reviewers seem to like it.
