This is disturbing, and will likely hurt camera companies, with lower sales to the US

The Panasonic Lumix S1R II camera, while designed in Japan, is manufactured in China, so the Tariff Rate could be 34%

Camera Model Panasonic S1R II
Manufacturing Country Japan (China)
Tariff Rate 24% (34%)
Original Price $3,299.99
New Price (with Tariff) $4,091.99 ($4,421.98)

Maybe we get more stock in Europe and lower prices? They can’t stockpile them…

saw a story of a wine trader I think in the Dutch news, who had to collect ship containers full of wine for the USA, back from Rotterdam harbor to his storage facilities because the shipment was canceled moments before. Trump thinks it is a good idea to put 200% import tariff on it. Now can only sell it off at a loss.

I think this whole trading war will introduce recession, and everybody loses.

The tariff needs to be added to the price how Panasonic Japan sells the camera to Panasonic US, not on the consumer price.
But anyway this is very bad news for all camera manufacturers and american customers…

And for investors in stock market. The sell off over the last 2 days was horrible on US stock markets.

One guy pushes without a need the global economy close to recession. Unbelievable.

It will take time til US residents will realize that this is a hidden tax they have to pay from now on in the US. Analysts calculated that each US tax payer will have to pay in average around 5.500 USD more each year from now on.

Mr. T will take this additional tax income and distributes it later as the promised tax cuts for his friends, the rich people.

But back on topic. Buy your gear as long as it is at the current price level, if you live in the US. Not only cameras. Also TV, PCs etc. Basically everything
