Thee is still the option to buy the optical design and bild some new housing around. Then you can change the throw of the rings and also the types of af motors if you want. See the new Nikon 70-180. the lens design seems identical to the tamron, but the mechanics are quite different.
would love to see the 2.8/70-180 with l-mount by the way. Safe order at the same day of announcement

I also can't imagine, that Panasonic will release rebranded Sigma lenses. But the main reason for me is, Panasonic has some different claims for it's S lenses. Panasonic uses very fast linear focusing motors and optimise there lenses for less focus breathing for the video guy's. Two things the Sigma 28-70 doesn't offer.

It's true that nearly every Sigma lens does not have high-speed focus motors, except for the new 60-600, which has a"High-response Linear Actuator" motor. Not sure how it compares to Panny 70-200s from an AF performance perspective, however.
