Rumors Panasonic 24-60 f2.8 or f2.0

And my Lumix 50mm F1.8. Quite a bit on my favorite subject matter. Not a high end, expensive lens by any measure.

That said, a smaller, lighter f/2.8 that's sharp would have been a nice addition for more causal outings. For $900, I dont see the performance or value, thus far.

You are implying that the lens is not sharp. Have you used it?

Here we go, Johnnie Behiri from cined.com was trying the 24-60 f2.8 and literally says: "what can I say, it is very sharp. Edge to edge this lens is very sharp. If I would"t have made a review, I guess that I would have put an 1/8th of a black pro mist filter just so soften up a little bit..." and later repeats against "it is very very sharp"...

If you followed some of my previous comments, no, I have not shot it and was ready to pre-order it, but the images that I've seen so far (online) have not been impressive. I will wait for more review and images or for an opportunity to shoot it myself when it becomes generally available.

PetaPixel has sample images for the S1II and S1IIE, and maybe the 24-60. But you need to be a "Member" to see them. Is anyone a PetaPixel member? I'm hoping the photography is better than the dismal photos on DPreview.

One of the advantages the 24-60 has over the 24-70 (based on what I saw in another review) is lower distortion at the wide end, which is probably why the 24-70's corners are not as sharp, given that we were looking at corrected images in that video. That's also the problem with the Sigma 24-70 Art, but it has even more distortion than the 24-70 S-Pro (I think) and it's also rather complex distortion.

Another comparison between the Lumix 24-60 f2.8 and the Lumix 24-70 f2.8 and yes, they are both very good lenses:
Someone new looking to get into the S1 II can add this lens without breaking the bank (as much). Good timing by Panasonic.

We're getting r@ped on pricing here. Yeah I know it's release price, but $1900 AUD is a little bit steep I think.
I picked up my Sigma 28-70mm F2.8 for about $860 from memory. Brand new, local stock, brick and mortar store, full warranty etc.
Pretty sure I've seen the S Pro 24-70mm on sale for less than the 24-60mm too.

Yes, there is something very wrong about the local price here in Australia!
A conversion of the USD list price: $900 ÷ 0.64 (current exchange rate) = AUD $1,406.

They won't sell many 24-60mm lenses here at $1,900.
