Now 5 years extended warranty from Panasonic

Panasonic now extended the Warranty on Full Frame cameras and S Lenses in some countries in Europe for purchases after 14 march 2025. Not checked which countries but at least UK, Ireland and The Netherlands. All you have todo is register your new acquisition.

I wonder why they did this - do they have a quality reputation problem in Europe? I have seen (via a FB group) that they are repairing broken out-of-warranty triggers on S5IIs for free in the UK.

Would love to see them do this in the U.S. as well. Could help overcome the lens "white spots" concern.

Lot of big retailers in the Netherlands offer 5 year extended warranty to camera gear anyway. So not that big of a deal here. But it is always nice to know that the manufacturer does this for you as well regardless where you bought it. I expect grey imports stuff is automatically excluded anyway.

It’s a time-limited promotional offer- purchases after 31 March 2026 won’t be entitled to this.

In the UK, Panasonic have offered this kind of warranty from time to time to encourage orders but that’s tended to be in newly launched models (like the G9). This is slightly different as it’s being applied retrospectively and covers so much kit.

Recently, on the the LUMIX USA YouTube channel, I’ve noticed that Sean has been mentioning the extended warranty available via the LUMIX Pro service (this didn’t take off in Europe) a fair bit. Although regions operate differently, I wonder if both reflect utilising something offering piece of mind as a marketing tool.

FWIW, Martin Dangyou in a recent long-term video about the S9 mentioned about flimsiness of its rear dial and he needed it replacing a while. Although he was critical of this design, he basically said that the Lumix Pro means it’s not an issue as the service will deal with it.

In the UK’s terms and conditions show what retailers are included in the deal - interestingly, Amazon are included as they are often excluded from these promotions.

Grey resellers will be excluded but in the UK, these tend offer their own warranty and often it will be for five years.
