Meike 85mm f/1.8 Pro

The photos look great!

Were you happy with the handling on the S9?

They sent me a new firmware that removes the reverse vignette when the apertures are closed. I didn't know how to install it, so I connected the lens to my computer and copied the firmware to the lens' open disk. I'm not sure if this is the right way to do it. I don't know what the firmware number was, but it became 2.2 as in the description.

How do you connect a lens to a computer ??

That was correct how you've done it.
You find a textfile on the disk which tells you the current installed firmware version.

Is the reverse vignette now solved?

Damn, I hadn't realised there was a pro version. I was planning on picking up the basic version in a few months but now I'll need to shell out another €150 to get the pro version...

The release of 35.1.8 pro is already planned.

I watched Richard Wong's video review of the 85/1.8 Pro and was surprised that he concluded that the build quality was poor as I thought that was one of the main differences between Meike's "pro" line and their standard lenses, plus reviews of the 55/1.8 pro seem to say that the build quality of that lens is very good.

I have 3 Meike lenses now - 2 Pros and 1 non-Pro. All feel plasticy.
In my opinion the Pro line difference is the manual aperture ring, good focus breathing behavior and much better flare and contrast control in backlight situations.
The plastic body is not a downside me. It keeps the weight low and in cold conditions I'm glad it's not a metal body like my Olympus MFT Pro lenses Daumenhoch Smilie
