At 3pm London time, the Lumix live event starts on YouTube.

They will introduce the new Lumix S1II and S1IIe, which we discussed already in the rumor thread.

This new thread is for watching the live event together and discus all the news, reviews of youtubers etc.

Let's have fun together! Tomorrow, Tuesday at 3pm London time. 26 hours left....

I have to admit that I am excited for the reviews. I hope that the AF improved again.

If you imagine, that we will have this afternoon 4 really new Lumix fullframe models with PDAF (S9, S1RII, S1II, S1IIe) plus at least 3 "older" models which will not disappear/be replaced (S5II, S5IIx, S5). This in total are 7 Lumix models at the same time!!! This is amazing!

I'm staff at a youth event, so I’ll check it out later. Probably start with a short one and then dive into @Richard Wong his review (assuming it’s super long again ): I’ll finish the rest tomorrow.

I am flying to Paris today, but I will catch up starting with the Richard Wong's review of the 24-60mm f/2.8. I am really interested in that lens.
That poor guy.... Probably hasn't slept for weeks to make 3 long reviews :eek:

only 3 ? You forget all the comparison reviews he has to make as wel. 24-60 compared to 28-70, S1e to S5mk2, etc. I understand why @Richard Wong only came here like once last few months.

I’m wondering how the S1ii e will be differentiated from the S5ii. They seem very similar cameras. At least in the S1 S5 era, the differences were quite marked in terms of size, weight, EVF, build, handling etc. But now they are quite similar in all these aspects.

My guess is that Panasonic will do it the same way as Sony does.

Keep older models as long as possible in the product line to offer something at lower prices and the models with the newest technology will be priced significatly higher. Since all cameras are "good enough" already, this is cheaper than to produce a low cost model just for the lower price segment.

Thanks to this, Panasonic, although L-Mount has a relatively small market share, can now offer 7 different models at the sane time in 7 different price categories and production costs are lower than with 7 totally different models.

Strategically, this is a huge step and can give L-Mount a huge push. Do not underestimate this wealth of body choices for the consumer sentiments and positive influence on their buying decision.

I see where you’re coming from, but there are a few key differences—especially in the body design. In fact, it feels closer to the S5iiX because of the SSD support. I’m also expecting a faster processor—perhaps the same as the S1Rii but with lower resolution, so it can devote more time to each pixel. And that correlates autofocus in video should be another noticeable upgrade.
