What is it with the interwebz experts, & Panasonic. It just never ends. We've listened to it for year after year after year with m4/3, the "experts" are perhaps thinking that perhaps they're wide of the mark there, so now starting on FF. Look at what this @rse clown is attempting to pass off as "fact" Go jump in the sea you idiot. You're guessing.

There certainly are a lot of critics out there who like to complain about Panasonic. And some very inconsistent reviewers (e.g. S9 bad because no EVF, XM5 good despite no EVF, no IBIS and dubious looking AF).

This EOS guy can't have done much research based on this comment:

Well, it's just baseless speculation. And clearly the guy has no imagination:

The bad thing for us who remain invested in Lumix, is that they have hid it and not been honest. At least in my opinion, because I can see no other explanation for what we’re witnessing.

Can see no other explanation? I can think of loads:

- They have delayed the launch to give time for the SL3 to establish itself.
- They will replace all the current S1 models with a super-hybrid and the engineering effort is taking time.
- They have hit some snags in field testing and need time to resolve them.
- They want to time the launch to coincide with the new year (they did this with the S5ii).
- They want to build inventory of the new models so that the launch will hit the ground running.
- ...

I mean really..."no other explanation" ! What a fool!

The irony is that he holds Canon up as a shining light as to how a camera company should release product.
EOS M anyone? The system never even got an 85mm equivalent fast prime before it was dumped. And took 5 or 6 years to get the most basic of basic garden variety fast 50 equivalent. Then to top it all off, release a new mount, with the exact same lenses of exactly the same optical formula, that you must purchase all over again. It's absurd.
And the closed RF mount is blatantly obvious with the slow release of new lenses, and lack of range, even more so when you compare what's available in the L mount alliance. Or Sony's E mount.
It's just plain old $h!t talk. An idiot trying to make himself look clever. Unsuccessfully.

All just speculation and rubbish. Biggest contributor is that parts have been held up from all the world instability we are witnessing at the moment. Sony/Canon/Nikon and the rest have all experienced delays in their launch schedules of new products. One thing for sure, Panasonic should not follow Leica and bring to the market a product with all the issues the SL3.

I heard about the bug whereby it could overwrite previous images in some circumstances related to sleep/power save mode (sounds a bit like some unflushed file system buffers). That's a pretty awful bug for any camera. Are there other problems?

This guy set up a website and forum for hybrid cameras long ago, mostly focused on video. I followed it way back when, and it never had much that was interesting so I stopped looking at it. He may have a good understanding about the history and status of hybrid cameras, but he is not so good at presenting it.

There seem to have been a plethora of issues reported over on the Leica Forum, it's the time Leica are taking to sort them out that's the biggest problem.
