I am hoping to pick up a Lumix S5ii in the new year; I have been around the houses in my latest quest to try and find a camera to suit and I think the Lumix hopefully is the one. I'm not really into the videography side of things much other than a bit of vlogging so it will be mainly for photography. I'm looking forward to trying our the m43 smarts as I am a m43 shooter.

Hi @cedge and welcome!

I am a former Lumix m4/3 shooter and found the transition to Lumix FF Lumix quite easy as the menus and features are much the same. The S5II is a great camera.

I’m also am ex (and current) m43 shooter and found that the S5 (and S1R and S5ii) are about the best FF cameras to adapt to. Panasonic’s heritage in mirrorless shows through. By contrast, Nikon and Canon have DSLR baggage in their UIs and Sony‘s UI is just very different and hard to use IMHO.

Welcome sedge. Enjoy your camera research. I'm a former m43 user (Paasonic, Blackmagic & Olympus). I currently own & very much enjoy my S5iiX. After you get your camera, be sure to post some photos here!

Welcome Cedge, good camera choice! Used m43 also, but took the Nikon dx - m43 - Fujifilm XT4 - S5ii route
Mainly photography for me as well…
