After weeks of research, today I finally ordered a Lumix S52X camera with their 20-60mm lens; it should arrive in a few days. Got a great deal from Hunts Photo & Video (USA) @ $2060 w free shipping & 3-yr Panasonic warranty. Looking forward to start shooting with it!

I'm a longtime videographer & photographer. Currently semi-retired, but still shoot for local non-profit organizations. My previous cameras included the Panasonic GH1, GH2, GH3, Olympus E-M10 Mark III, Blackmagic Pocket 4K ... and before that various Sony broadcast video cameras. It's incredible the capability now available in today's cameras, the S52X being a prime example.

I edit video using Davinci Resolve Studio. I recently started using Affinity Photo 2 to edit stills, but also use Pixelmator Pro. I primarily use my Mac computer for video & photo work, but I also have DRS installed on my Win10 PC.

Cheers!

Dirk, I tried to join the Resolve forum but couldn't get past the CAPTCHA. Do you have any hints for passing that test?

Welcome to the forum, and congrats on your new purchase!

You will find lots of info in the forums about other lens options for your new camera.

Greetings! I've always wanted to visit the northwest and see some of the volcanic peaks, but never made it. :(

Have fun here, and looking forward to the pics!

Welcome, and have fun with your new gear Daumenhoch Smilie

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. I'm s-o-o-o-o looking forward to using my new camera when it arrives! :)

@Travis: One of the first landscapes I plan to shoot with the S5iiX is nearby Mt. Hood, a dormant volcano. There are impressive views of its snow-covered peak easily visible from historic Timberline Lodge on the mountain's slopes. I'm already thinking about panorama & high-resolution stills, and 6K video I want to capture. There are many beautiful locations in Oregon. Also nearby is Silver Falls State Park, one of my favorites, and there are so many others. Cheers.

I'm not sure if this Dropbox link will work, but here goes. A volunteer project I'm currently working on can be seen here (Note: Login is NOT required to view):

I'm taking photographs, about 50 of which will be displayed on 11 large, full color trailhead interpretive signs along a new 6-mile urban walking trail between the my neighborhood in SW Portland and the town of Lake Oswego. Info about the trail project is here:

Most of the photos are in vertical 5x7 aspect ratio as required by the design of the signs. There will be up to 5 of my photos per sign, plus historic archival photos, maps, and text. The photos illustrate points of interest and views along the trail route. A fun project. Will probably be completed by the end of this Summer.

The photos currently in my Dropbox were taken using my old Olympus E-M10 Mark III camera. I'm sure the S5iiX will enable a noticeable improvement in image quality.

Very cool! I spent most of my life (over 50 years) in the Portland area - lived in Lake Oswego before we moved to Colorado. Great to see the work getting done on that trail, and congrats on having your work featured!
