*** February 2025 Image and Video Thread ***

A question: Do people mind advice/critique on the photos they post here? I absolutely want suggestions on mine, but not sure how others feel.

Sharing RAWs and up to others editing skills could be a more interesting and positive approach Daumenhoch

A good way to show off sharpness etc too Rasieren1

I am not sure. Are you thinking technical critique, artistic or both? Without knowing a photographer's specific intent and purpose for a photo (e.g. art vs documentary) and scene shooting limitations, critique might be somewhat random and off the mark.

Another option is a critique thread where you can re-edit etc.
That could work, especially where help with editing is wanted.

Love the signs! "Sharks". We sometimes get them too.

We also sometimes get small tsunamis. However, a really big, bad earthquake & tsunami is overdue, and expected here any day now. :(

Here's my niece alongside one of the many tsunamis warning signs posted along the Oregon coast. And, looking 180 degrees the other way, the sign's view of Haystack Rock.

(Apologies: These were snapped using my former Olympus E-M10 M3 camera.)

Yes, they can be dangerous on non-patrolled beaches like this one. I used to surf in my youth at patrolled beaches, where the occasional shark siren was just one of the sounds of summer.

But I will never forget the time I was in the surf on the NSW south coast at Wairo Beach. A beautiful place but it's difficult to get to and not patrolled. I was with a small group of surfers at the northern end near the headland, sitting on our boards waiting for the next set when a dorsal fin came up out of the water about 10 metres away and went back under. I'd barely got the first expletive out of my mouth when it popped up again and went under and we could thankfully see it was a dolphin. Z04 975

Now that would be frightening! I hope it doesn't happen.

That Haystack Rock is enormous! That's a great photo.
