*** April 2026 Image & Video Thread ***

Our tour group did a walking tour of a part of Sarajevo, had a wonderful dinner, and were headed back to the hotel when I took this shot. This is a straight out of the camera JPG that has been resized for upload to the forum. S9+TT 40mm f2

On Saturday we took my daughters to meet some of their friends at a huge sports complex in a nearby town. It's a public one and, quite typically, parts are in good condition while others are a little decrepit. In this case I found the largest tennis court where the court itself seemed new but the seating was older, faded to pastels and in some places overgrown with plants. It was a nice place for photographing and if I go back I'll probably take an ultra-wide and some film.

These were all shot with the Sigma 35mm and 50mm f/2 DG DN lenses.

Those chairs offer a lot of creative potential!

The new parliament building of Tajikistan. Just the tried and true 24-105, and tried the new lightroom "film-inspired" presets. This one is "deep sage." I think what I like about filmic presets is it takes some of the color contrast out which gives you more of a cohesive color palette. If I just tuned this image to get the richest colors I could all over, I think there would be distracting elements like the yellows in the streetlights. One thing that I'm realizing now is that I was trying to add some warmth into my second image using masks and it wasn't working. Well duh - because I'm doing it under a custom color profile I should have pulled it into photoshop and made a separate layer and experimented with bringing in some contrasting oranges for a blue-orange look.

I suppose this will finish the month for me...
Bayonne Bridge, Bayonne, NJ -
2026 Bayonne 5 by fe_no_me_no, on Flickr
Here's what I learned about the bridge after taking the photo:
Engineered by Othmar Ammann and designed by Cass Gilbert, the bridge is currently the 6th longest steel arch bridge span in the world. Ammann had designed and engineered many bridges in his career, 5 of which grace the New York City metro area (Verrazano Bridge, George Washington Bridge, Bayonne Bridge, Hells Gate Bridge, and Gothals Bridge). As engineer for the Port Authority of New York (later including NJ), he supervised many infrastructure projects including the Lincoln Tunnel.

Cass Gilbert was a famous architect, known for having designed the Woolworth Building at the time of the Bayonne Bridge. This was the tallest building in the world from 1915-1929 before being eclipsed by the Chrysler Building in New York City. A couple of friends were working on a movie set (they are professional set painters for tv and movie shows) in an old warehouse in NYC. They stumbled upon a rolled upset of very old blueprints. They happened to be of the Woolworth Building. It appears the location was once associated with Gilbert or his offices. I had the print reproduced on canvas and mounted for hanging. Small world.

I've been experimenting with the S1H and more vintage prime lenses lately and put together this short compilation to test them out. This is mostly taken from around my neighborhood which I thought would be a nice challenge, mixed with some typical spring weather. Shot with Konika Hexanon AR 24mm f2.8, Pentax SMC-M 50mm and Leica APO-Telyt-R 180mm f3.4. (Drone shot at the end was with a Potensic Atom).
Hope you enjoy!

I love the San Juan Islands. Started visiting back in 1984. One of my top spots in the northwest.
Born in Edmonds, Washington.
