A new 50mm f/1.2 Lens for the L-Mount

Interesting stuff:

- SongRaw: company’s first product. It was founded by multiple former engineers and lens designers who decided to join forces to start a new company.

- “first Chinese 50mm F1/2 Full-Frame autofocus mirrorless camera lens.”

- On the lens:
- one focus ring,
- one aperture ring,
- two switches: one AF/MF switch and one to declick the aperture ring.

- On the inside:
- STM stepping motors for fast and accurate autofocus.
- the lens should be compatible with all AF modes your camera offers, including eye-tracking capabilities.
- internal autofocus system, meaning the front of the lens doesn’t move when you focus.
- 15 elements in 10 groups, including two aspherical lens elements, to minimize chromatic aberrations and reduce distortions.

- should be available to order by the end of April for around $950 to $1,100.

Thank you for sharing.
Interesting, but.... seems to bulky, and weight is to heavy (900 gram).
In spite of the competitive price.

That's fairly ambitious pricing if that's in USD. I know it's a new release, and pricing will invariably drop, but in my country I can buy the Lumix S Pro 50mm F1.4 for a couple of hundred more, if I'm willing to not rush into the first shop I see and grab one. F1.2 vs 1.4? A non-issue.

Or they're asking the rest of the world to subsidize US pricing.
I don't think so. I would assume that the US market isn't as important for a Chinese lens manufacturer. The most important market for them is by far China and they will get the pricing right in there. And at least from Europe you also could easily order from China over ali express, if the premium of bigger Importeurs is to high.

Don't overestimated the weight of the US on a global market. There big, but China alone is bigger. Everything else combined is way more important. At least for camera and lens brands. It's probably way different for weapons and rifles.

It's good to see some ambition up front but for that money I'd take the half-stop hit and get the Sigma 50/1.4 Art.
