News Sigma 50/1.2 DG DN Art

It is here!
I just got my ordered 1.2/50 Art. Hopefully the weather will be better today, yesterday the only possible test would be weather sealing…

First impression; not lightweight, but better handling than my old 1.4/50HSM which I gave to my dealer. The only slight drawback is the filtersize of 72mm, which is a new size to my set of lenses…

How's the handling compare to like the 24-105? I know in my heart the 65mm is better lens for me, but the images out of the 1.2 look really good and it's tempting me

I don´t own the 24-105 and the 20-60 is nothing to compare...
Here is a picture with the Lumix 1.8/50 and the Sigma 2.8 24-70:
- The Zoom is 100g heavier and a little bit bigger
- The Lumix nifty fifty looks not so much smaller, but is half the weight! But in comparison to my old 1.4/50HSM Art the new 1.2 is really an option for more occasions.

This video of Robert May about steam trains with the Sigma 50mm f/1.2 dg dn and the Lumix S5iix is dedicated to @Pete_W :

I really enjoyed that video! Although to be honest, the music sounded like it belonged in a 1950s shopping mall. The footage and photos were really good from both cameras. It looks like such a quaint location with so many old things to see. The bookshop looked awesome!

Oh Pete.

I thought the music was perfect. But then I just got back from New Orleans and got to see some good live Jazz & Blues.
Well that would have been very nice George! Did you take some photos in New Orleans too?

Maybe we need a "Music of L-Mount" sub-forum, LOL.
Ha ha! I think so. After the other discussion that went off-topic with Wichita Lineman my YouTube feed has been swamped with related content, interviews with Jimmy Webb etc. :D

It was nice, but it was a business trip and I didn't anticipate time to shoot. At least, I decided to prioritize live music as opposed to photography. Certainly want to go back.

That's the problem with YouTube algorithm and another indictment why I think (know) the AI moniker is a scam that caused the NVidia share bubble (just watch the horrific demise).

People who think AI can replicate the highest human endeavour and creativity such as Wichita or a Pink Floyd album are either manipulative marketers, absolutely dumb or sucked in by such BS constantly rained down upon them.

This content should really exist in the unused Cafe forum and not at the end of a defunct photo of the month thread.
