I decided to step down from Med Format and Give the Leica SL a run. I did my homework on this SL and on the Various L lenses that are available from different companies.
I shoot mainly Portraits and Family group shots. Not much with Landscape
TY
My last was Fuji GFX 100S,
Previously: Pentax 645Z, Phase One XF with IQ2 60 DB, Hasselblad X1D2. Leica S007......Back to MF film when I first started: Hassy 500C/M
Rollei TLR 2 1/4, RB 67 I think thats It. I must say I enjoyed the Leica S007 and S lenses and Pentax 645Z and Pentax FA 645 Lenses
Yes, Welcome! Very interesting your experience with MF cameras.
When I acquired the S1R with the 47mpx sensor and the high res mode I thought it was going to be the closest thing to using an MF camera...
...but a few months ago I found in the storage room of my in-laws' house a Mamiya RB 67 and several rolls that had expired years ago (hahahaha) which works perfectly... now I'm looking for a digital back because to be able to develop the negatives I would have to go to Vienna and right now it doesn't suit me very well...
I’m also curious about your experience with the GFX 100; it’s something I’ve found tempting from time to time, as a frequent landscape shooter; OTOH, I’m also strongly in love with small bodies, which is why my main shooter is the Sigma fp and not the LUMIX S5.
Thank you all. I had a short time with the 100S and I know the Sharpness, Color Rendition does not disappoint.
The Main reason I went to FF Leica SL is I hardly shoot anymore. I did weddings from 1972-2020 . The Fuji GFX 50S was the camera I used last for weddings. Excellent camera and Light weight
So, I ask myself why am I spending all the money and Shoot very little now. Mostly Friends and Family and PRO BONO.
The Other camera I used before the GFX 50S was the Nikon D810 for weddings etc. Excellent Camera but when I shot the formals with my Med Format camera the same day and compared them....there was a difference in Color rendition and Sharpness and overall A Special Look to them.
Will I go back to Med Format? I dont think I will. I feel I can do excellent Work with the SL and the Sigma primes for my purpose.
Also, MED Format cameras are Bigger and Heavier. On vacation I want something I can Hand hold and Not have to bring a tripod with me
I will say that every camera I have used takes on a certain feel to them. IQ they are all Excellent. It becomes a personal preference as with any other System...FF, MF AP-C
I hope I answered your questions. TY DEnnis
Hi Rollsman4 welcome! I’m curious how you like your “downgrade” and the story why, and how you like the SL2 and how it differs from your prev gear, pros and cons in etc in the future. Enjoy your switch and stay here.
I have not taken any pictures yet as the Weather here is Raining. I have the SL ( 601) Its too soon to comment.
The SL and Sigma 65 is what I have now. Lighter and NO tripod to carry around.
Also, I dont Need anything more than 24mpx. The Files from Med Format slows down my computer and takes me longer to edit especially 100mpx
