Share your photos with legacy lenses

I had to take my newly-acquired Pentax SMC K 50mm f/1.2 out for some test shots, of course obeying the law that all shots on an f/1.2 lens must be taken wide open for the first month of ownership. It didn't disappoint - I was shocked how sharp the lens is in the centre when focus was spot-on.

I slightly missed focus on the rapidly-moving bee in the second shot but this was the best of a bunch I took trying to get one of the little buzzers in focus.

I have long enjoyed using old, manual film-era lenses on digital cameras and one of the main reasons for changing to FF mirrorless was to be able to use my collection of old lenses with their originally-intended field of view and focus them easily. I know there must be many like-minded people out there shooting manual on their L-mount cameras.

Let's define "legacy lenses" as those developed for film and which are manual focus only. I know there's an adapter thread but it seems to be for those using adapters which allow full functionality of automatic lenses (such as EF) on their L-mount cameras.

I'll start things off with a few favourites shot on my S5.

Very nice! I recently received my f mount adapter and I am loving the images I’m getting with the older Nikon glass. As well, the focusing seems much easier and I can see the potential for video, both with maintaining focus and the cool lens flares they can produce.
The focus seems to be much much easier to gauge.

I think this has been changed in S5II. You can store several lenses with their name and focal length. When switching on, you can choose the used lens from the stored ones and the model (name) of the lens among its focal length is stored in the EXIF data when you shoot. So all the data except the used aperture value is available.
My S1R does not ask for lens info like the S1iie. I searched for a setting and google said it’s there somewhere, but I can find it.
I have the most recent firmware installed.

Maybe it’s because I’m using the K&F adapter with no contacts??

If the S1R is like the S5 then without lens communication all it will do is ask for the focal length in order to use IBIS, if IBIS is switched on. It will use the focal length to stabilise the lens but it won't record it in the EXIF data, one of the biggest flaws in the early S series cameras.

Ah ha!! I had turned off IBIS when using the tripod.
I get caught on these settings with my pants down ALL THE TIME!! I guess I need a baseline or start programming my presents. Laziness I think it’s called.

I would like to show you a few of my photos from different old lenses taken with a Sony A7R/R2 camera at different times.

Shot these the other night on Saturday, the clouds were amazing. Just got my adapter for the F to L mount and the lens I had with me was the non AI 105mm f/2.5; mounted to my S1R.
Straight out of camera/no edits. My $100.00 lens!! I'll add a couple from the 24-60 Lumix for comparison.

24-60 Lumix lens on the S1R. I think they're both pretty fantastic lenses.
