This was an 'all-electric' demonstration house built by Kansas City Power & Light in the 1950s to promote the advantages of electrical living. What it reminds me of is my maternal grandfather's farmhouse in north central Illinois - both the ranch style and some of the internal furnishings.

The light green tile in particular brings back memories.

Here is another photo from the heritage train ride I was on a week ago. This one was taken at Albury on the NSW/VIC state border where the trip began.

I usually process from RW2 using DxO PhotoLab but this shot is a SOOC jpeg. I really like the way the S5M2 processed this image.

This is the Derwent River at Hobart, Tasmania. The photo was taken from the top of kunanyi (Mount Wellington) looking south east.

I took this photo from within a shelter on the top of the mountain though the glass as the wind was very strong.

I really like the clouds in this shot! And I appreciate the Tasmania pictures - I've been over lots of Australia but never made it down there.

Thanks Charles. It's a great place to visit as there is such a variety of landscapes, mountains and wilderness, rugged coastlines on one side of the island and beautiful beaches on the other. The capital (Hobart) is quite a small city with a more laid back pace of life and very safe. We will be back there in May 2026 as my youngest son lives there now and is getting married.

Wow, they are lenticular clouds. A sure sign of atmospheric wave. A glider pilot’s delight!

I love them... reminds me of dirigibles.

And something us IFR pilots carefully avoid flying into! But they are really pretty to look at.
