Test/ First Impression Recommendation: Icy Box CFexpress and SD card reader

I needed a card reader for CFExpress Type B that is used in the S1Rii because in some genius move XQD cards are the exact same build and slot but neither the cards nor readers work…

I bought this one from Icy Box and I’m very happy so far. https://icybox.uk/product/card_reader/IB-CR504-C31

It’s full metal build, super sturdy, very fast on my MacBook. I needed both SD and CFe because I occasionallly just bring an iPad and that’s a great way to get either loaded onto it.

Not much else to say, was just using it and thought maybe other new S1Rii owners might also be in need of one. Got mine via Amazon.

I see that on Amazon, it looks good. I got the ProGrade Digital CFexpress Type B USB 4.0 card reader, and it did not work on my Mac, so I sent it back. I was hoping for higher read speeds. So i'm using the old Lexar CFexpress B reader I've had for quite a while and it works fine, a little slow but reliable. I may try for a higher speed reader in six months or so after the high speed technology settles down.

I saw that one too but I wanted a reader that also reads SD for the iPad use case, so unfortunately it wasn’t an option for me
